An Important Message from Health Services
Updated COVID Guidance Communication
Over Winter Break, a few changes were made to the quarantine guidance from the CDC and the Ohio Department of Health, so we are updating our policies accordingly.
The updated quarantine guidelines from the Ohio Department of Health can be found by following this link.
What to do if you have COVID: stay home for five days, regardless of whether you have symptoms. After five days, if you have been fever-free for 24 hours and other symptoms are improving, you can return to activities but need to wear a mask for five more days.
If you have been exposed to someone who has COVID, and your vaccinations are up to date (which means boosted, if eligible): wear a mask for 10 days after exposure. If you develop symptoms or test positive, stay home.
If you have been exposed to someone who has COVID, and your vaccinations are not up to date: stay home for five days, then wear a mask for five additional days. If you develop symptoms or test positive, stay home.
The Ohio Department of Health also updated its “Mask to Stay/Test to Play” rules, which can be viewed by following this link. Under the updated “Mask to Stay/Test to Play” guidelines students or staff who have been exposed to COVID-19 can stay in school under the following conditions:
The exposure was school-based
They are able to wear a mask for 10 days following exposure
They have no symptoms.
Some of these guidelines may be confusing, and the best way to avoid confusion and keep your neighbors safe is to communicate with your child(ren)'s building. They will direct you to the proper person to help with any questions. Please notify them of COVID exposures or positive tests and one of the district nurses will follow up with you.
The guidelines make it clear that the best way to protect yourself and your family is to be vaccinated and boosted. The best way to protect others is to stay home if you are sick or if you are exposed to COVID-19 and are not vaccinated.
News from the Counseling Office
The College Credit Plus (CCP) program has been established by the Ohio Department of Higher Education to enhance students’ college and career readiness and postsecondary options. The CCP program enables college-ready, 7-12 grade students who qualify for college admission to take college-level courses for which they may earn both high school and transcripted college credit upon successful completion of coursework. If you are interested in learning more about CCP please come and join the LHS Counselors for the annual CCP meeting on January 26, 2022 at 6:30 pm in the LHS Auditorium. We strongly encourage students to attend this event. There will be a brief overview of the program as well as tables set up with many of the local colleges being represented. The college representatives will be able to share their college specific information. If you are unable to attend the meeting there will be a presentation posted on the LHS College Credit Plus Google Site.
