JTSD Named STEM School of Excellence
The International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) has named John Thomas School of Discovery (JTSD) as an ITEEA STEM School of Excellence. This honor is one of the great achievements granted by ITEEA and reflects the school’s amazing work and accomplishments.
STEM School of Excellence winners will be presenting at the STEM Showcase on Friday, April 14, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
ITEEA’s STEM Center for Teaching and Learning™ recognizes outstanding schools for their commitment to providing a robust Integrative STEM education program. Schools recognized exemplify outstanding leadership in the field of STEM education. Recognized schools undergo a rigorous application process requiring detailed documentation to demonstrate a strong Integrative STEM program. A panel of reviewers will reach consensus that the documented evidence represents excellence in Integrative STEM education.

Winter Weather Alert Reminders
With the possibility of winter weather this week, we wanted to remind you of updates to the winter weather alerts.
When a decision is made we will send out a notification on the district app (if you have that option activated) and a text alert (no more phone calls). The alerts will go out prior to 10 p.m. the night before or after 5:00 a.m. if we are not having school in person or will have a late start. This will be in addition to television, radio, website, Facebook, and Twitter announcements. If you do not receive an app notification or text, we do encourage you to check the other options.
To download the district app, CLICK HERE
In the event of the school being dismissed early, the notification will go out as soon as the decision has been made so that you have as much time to plan as possible. As is the case when we don’t have school in person, it is, of course, the parents/guardians’ responsibility to make the necessary arrangements for this change of schedule. This responsibility is the same for a late-start day. We encourage you to talk and make plans now so these plans are in place ahead of time.
Questions? Please contact your principal or the district office. We will be more than happy to discuss this information with you. Thank you.
