Mrs. Baker's Class Newsletter
May 12th
What is going on?
Math: Students will work in pairs to create a board game following a rubric using different concepts they’ve learned this year. After planning, building and creating, then students will have the opportunity to play the board games created by their peers.
Reading: This week, we focus on DRAMA. Students will read scripts and work cooperatively to perform Pecos Bill and Slue Foot Sue for their classmates.
Writing: Students will continue writing personal narratives, or small moments. We will focus on adding details to our writing. We will practice this skill by learning how writers “show, don’t tell.” In other words, good writers describe feelings instead of telling the reader the feeling(s).
Science: We will be learning about physical changes in matter. We will be changing by cutting, folding, sanding, and melting.
Sight Words: fall, find, hold, must, those, think
Please continue to work with your child to read, write, and spell these words with consistency.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
If your child has medication in the nurse's office, please be sure to pick it up on or before June 2, 2016. No medication will be sent home with students. (Per district policy). Any medicine left in the nurse's office after June 2nd will be disposed of properly. No medications will be left in office over the summer.
Thank You,
Michelle Bullock, LVN
I have started to send home end of the year conference forms. Please sign and return one copy. I am still working on a few, but please keep a look out for them in Thursday folders. The district is not giving us time for end of the year conferences. If you would like to discuss your student's progress. Please let me know soon. We will be able to work a time out to discuss in person or on the phone. If your student is not meeting end of the year expectations. I will be contacting you soon to set up a conference.
Field Day is next Friday! Please have your student wear their class t-shirt. Our field day is in the morning. Please have them wear a bathing suit underneath clothes. You have the option for your student to wear water sock type shoes or tennis shoes. If you choose for water socks, make sure they can handle athletic type activities.
Please put on sunblock before school. They can wear a hat. We will need extra water bottles. If you can please send in an extra set of clothes for the afternoon. I would greatly appreciate it.
