Morning Drop Off Procedure REMINDER
Morning Arrival
Morning arrival has been going smoothly. However, a couple of reminders will be helpful especially as we continue through the winter season.
- Make sure your child is ready to leave your car before you stop. If you need to take some time with him or her, park in the parking lot and walk your child over to the school.
- No child is permitted to walk across the parking lot on his/her own.
- Remember when children are exiting your car, all should exit on the passenger side for safety reasons.
- As you leave, please proceed to Blue Ribbon Way (exiting on Wilson Mills) only. If someone other than you is dropping off your child in the morning, please let them know that we are a one way in at Saint Paschal Lane and a one way out at Blue Ribbon Way.
- Give your child enough time to walk to his/her homeroom. As the weather changes, the car rider line becomes longer and time gets later. Develop the habit of getting here with many minutes to spare!
Green Knight of the Quarter
Cassidy Rossoll is an eighth grader at Saint Paschal Baylon who was selected as our next Green Knight of the Quarter! As many teachers shared, Cassidy seems to be the perfect choice as our next Green Knight. Cassidy is someone who leads by example. She is a mature, poised, confident, and enthusiastic young lady. She is not only an outstanding student but also a genuinely kind person. Mr. Martin wrote, “I am proud to nominate one of the kindest students I have ever taught. Blessed with many talents, Cassidy puts them to use not only for her own growth but for the benefit of many. There is a real sense of Christian integrity that makes her such a virtuous, successful person.”
Cassidy lives with her parents, Tracy and Tom, her sister Erin who is in the fourth grade, and their dog Dakota. Cassidy expressed the importance of family. They especially enjoy going to Mass each Saturday followed by dinner together as a family. Cassidy is an avid dancer and has been dancing since the age of two! When asked about her favorite subject, Cassidy shared that she likes science as she enjoys the opportunity to learn about the world and what is has to offer. In the future, Cassidy plans to attend NDCL, and she was recently awarded an academic scholarship to the school. Beyond high school, Cassidy would like to be a pediatrician or a professional dancer. When asked about Cassidy, her dad shared that she stays focused on her goals no matter how busy she is. Her mom added, “Cassidy always puts 110% effort into all that she does no matter how big or small. She is passionate.” Her sister Erin chimed in saying, “She gets things done!” Cassidy’s Grandma Janet was beaming with pride during the interview, and Aunt Donna shared that Cassidy goes out of her way to be kind.
Polite, kind, friendly, respectful, hardworking, and motivated were words repeatedly used to describe Cassidy. Mrs. Baka said that Cassidy has proven to be an asset to the class and is respectful of her classmates. Mrs. Peko also commented that Cassidy “has a wonderful positive outlook in life.” Mrs. Connors wrote, “Cassidy has a strong work ethic. Though she attends dance class daily, she excels in her classes and it shows that she is determined to do well.” Cassidy’s first grade teacher, Miss Martinson, shared, “Cassidy worked hard and had a zest for life. She had sparkly eyes and would pump her arms when she was excited about something. Cassidy continues to be a positive role model for the younger students. She has grown into a lovely young lady, and you can still tell when something is exciting by those sparkly eyes and the pumping arms!” Mrs. Kulick summed it up well by writing that Cassidy “is diligent with her studies and always ready to lend a friend a helping hand. She interacts enthusiastically with her peers and the adults in her life. Cassidy serves our community responsibly in her leadership roles as well, making us proud that she's part of the graduating class of 2019.” Congratulations, Cassidy, on this well-deserved honor!
Geography Bee Results
The Champion of the Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic School level National Geography Bee is 6th grader Ailani Fritzgerald. She will now take a multiple choice exam to qualify for the state level geography bee held in Columbus during the month of April. Lani could become our school's fourth state qualifier! The second place winner is Luke Lipold. Thank you to all of the 34 participants from Grades 6 through 8. Thank you to Mrs. Marti and Mr. Martin for leading this event.
MAP Testing - January 7 through January 25
At home, you can help to prepare your child by ensuring that he/she gets plenty of sleep each night and eats a nutritious breakfast each morning. Encourage your child to do his her best on each test. The goal is for the testing to provide a detailed picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn--whether it is on, above, or below grade level--and to plan instruction accordingly.
Mrs. Kelly Keefe Selected as the 2019 Distinguished Graduate
We are proud to announce that alumnus Mrs. Kelly Keefe will be honored this year as our Distinguished Graduate of 2019. Mrs. Keefe is a graduate of the Class of 1989. Both she and her husband, Matt, continue to be very active in the Saint Paschal Baylon School and parish community. Their daughters, Katie and Elizabeth, currently attend our school, and their son Connor is an SPB graduate and a freshman at St. Ignatius High School. Mrs. Keefe was nominated by Mrs. Carol Jansky, former Saint Paschal Baylon principal, and was chosen by the Distinguished Graduate committee from the nominations received. Mrs. Keefe will receive her award at the all-school Mass on Wednesday, February 6 at 9:00 a.m. Please join us to congratulate her on this honor.

Internet Safety Expert Coming to SPB
On Wednesday, February 27th at 7 P.M. in the SPB Eymard Room, Jesse Weinberger will present information to help parents and guardians better understand how to guide their children through the digital world. Because of Jesse’s expertise on everything digital from social media to cyberbully she is a nationally recognized Internet Safety presenter, a TEDx speaker, and an author. She speaks at elementary, middle, and high schools and on college campuses across the country. Jesse works with a wide range of individuals from law enforcement to teachers and she has a particular passion for helping parents learn how best keep their children safe in the digital world - any adult with a child in their life can benefit from hearing Jesse’s talk. To learn more about Jesse, please visit her website OvernightGeekUniversity.com and please attend this SPB PTO sponsored event, so we can all learn how to help our children better navigate in this ever changing digital world.
Please note: The evening presentation is for adults only and you are welcome to invite friends and adult family members to attend with you. After Jesse's presentation she will answer questions in front of the group and she will also answer questions privately. This event is expected to go from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M.
Playground/Lunchroom Supervision-Grades 3 & 4
The links to sign up for playground/lunchroom supervision for parents/guardians of students in grades 3 and 4 are now live!
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer for the month of January for 4th grade or February for 3rd grade, each time slot being 11:00-1:00. There are many, many time slots open! If you have a child in another grade level, but would find the time to help, please feel free to fill one of the open slots. We are always grateful for the help!
This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Lunch/Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:00 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting students to the cafeteria from recess, and supervising in the cafeteria. Volunteers will be with one teacher and two "core" volunteers each day to help direct. Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.
Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the grade level link to pick a time convenient for you: Grade 4 , or Grade 3.

Open hours on Sunday, January 27th during the Pancake Breakfast/Open House are from 8:30-1:00. During the week, please check in with the school office to sign in and obtain a visitor badge. This is a great way to get some updated or new uniforms at a great price mid way through the school year! New Year, New Lot
In this new year, many of us set resolutions and goals to better ourselves and our families. The SPB community also has a goal for 2019. It is to improve our campus with a new parking lot! Our resurfaced lot will include all paved areas on our property. It will be both concrete and asphalt. It will also be safer and more welcoming. Please do what you can to help us achieve this goal by donating to the Parking Lot Campaign. We are so grateful for all the support we have received so far. THANK YOU and Happy New Year!
