News & Notes...
- Team Day- THANK YOU! What fun it was to see everyone participating. The kids were thankful and excited about the activities. If you have pics of your groups working together, please send them to me!
- Thanks to Melina for submitting student poetry to Young American Poetry Digest. We have many published authors at BHS!
- Thanks also to Sarah & Joe & Mayra (from PS) for sharing about our 5th-grade program last week. Room 3 was full & it was sooo nice to hear all of the wonderful comments from future parents. I think parents left genuinely impressed and excited about what is in store. Linda & Cori have heard awesome feedback. Way to go!
- This Wednesday, Remy, Lucy C. & Elijah will have students shadowing with them from Japan. These students are here for 10 days & our students will visit them in Japan next year. Lucy's mom, Renata, will be around campus to help with any needs. We know that you will welcome the students (who most likely don't speak very much English). I am hoping it won't rain & we can have music at lunch. Renata & Lucy have created Bingo Cards to encourage conversation and research about Japan. They will be interviewed for the BNN too.
- Student Behavior- Spring has sprung & so has some unwanted student behavior. Please make a big effort to reward (red tickets) what we want to see & make time to correct behavior we don't want to see. No students should be running in and out of classrooms at the beginning of class or at dismissal. Please take the time to have conversations about expectations. Everyone needs to be on the same page! Thanks!
- Our West County Community counselor Karla Fittipaldi will be here on Tuesdays. I have quite a list of students for her to start seeing. She'll be pulling kids and introducing herself. I know it is hard to have students pulled, but our time is limited & these kiddos need the opportunity to talk to someone. Thanks for your flexibility!
Progress Grade Reporting is now open. If a student has a C- or Below please add a comment. Have all grades in by April 2nd! Sara will review them & Stephanie will send home Progress Reports on April 3rd
CAASPP testing- I will be sending out a reminder about the things we discussed at the last staff meeting. I am in the process of working with Analy's activity director to see if they can bring their Rally Commissioners over to lead the group in fun games to inspire "Showing What You Know!"
- STAR Test Improvement- I am also going to be pulling reports to figure out who has made great growth on their STAR tests. I'll work on finding a way to honor them- Ice Cream at lunch?!?
- Please take the time to share the latest BNN episode this week. 7/8 can show in Advisory. Thanks to Video Production & Kevin for the latest work!
