It was absolutely awesome to hear the voices of children in our hallways last night! 4K, 5K and new families coming together to meet teachers and get ready for the year ahead. Teachers doing virtual open houses with laughter and building excitement to see faces in person.

Together, we will bring learners and families to school and begin learning about our temporary (a year is short!) new normal. In this, please know your support is crucial and much appreciated! Together we will get through this! #thrivingtogether

We have begun our first round of virtual open houses and our teachers have enjoyed meeting their families during this time. Looking ahead to next week, we’re equally excited to meet individually with our learners to learn more about them as a person and learner during the soft start days. As some of our students have been assigned a teacher outside of their resident/home school, you may be receiving communications from their secondary (or school their distance learning teacher is assigned to). We are working our best to streamline communication so that families still receive information from their resident/home school. We will also be posting up to date information on our school webpages.

If you have any questions about distance learning, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher or the principal of your resident/home school.

As was communicated earlier, elementary students will do what we are calling a Soft Start to the school year. This means that all face to face students will be meeting with their teacher in a small group at Magee on only one of the first four days of school. Bus transportation will run on these days for students riding the bus. During this time, students will meet their teacher along with some students in their class, they will learn new routines for the year ahead and get comfortable with our return to school. This soft start will allow your child’s teacher(s) to begin/continue to build strong relationships, practice mitigation protocols and engage in baseline academic assessments. This small-group, focused time will provide the best opportunity for success when ALL elementary students selecting F2F will come together Tuesday, September 8. This will also allow families to adjust to the new procedures during arrival and dismissal. Please see the Transportation section of this newsletter for more details. 4K and 5K families should have received an email with a Sign Up Genius for a meet and greet with teachers in small groups. We feel this is important because this is the first school experience for our littlest learners and the opportunities to come to Magee were canceled. In addition, due to restrictions in our building, parents will not be able to walk students to their classrooms during the first days of school. We look forward to seeing you at Magee! For families that are brand new to Magee, we welcome you and we are so happy you are here. We invite you to come to our building, see your child's classroom and drop off supplies. This is an exciting time in your life and being able to see the space your child will be learning in is important! Knowing how every child is going home at the end of the day is of the utmost importance to our staff. Ensuring they all safely get where they are going is our top priority at the end of the day. We realize that changes may happen, and in that instance we ask that you contact the office. The form is to let us know the consistent way your child is to go home each day. Thank you so much!

20-21 Magee Transportation Form

To avoid large group gatherings, our teachers will be holding virtual open houses this year. If you would like to set up a time to speak with your child's teacher outside of the virtual open house, you can reach out to teachers directly to set that up during the times indicated when they are not doing the virtual open houses. A recording of each will also be placed on our website on Monday afternoon.

8/31: 8am - 11am

Grades 4/5: 8:30-9am

Grade 3: 9-9:30am

Grade 4/5: 9:30-10am

We will have book bags and handbooks in your child's classroom at the beginning of the year. In years past, we were able to sell these at our in school book store. This year, if your child needs them, a charge will be placed directly into their student account in Infinite Campus.

Book Bags will be sold for $3.50 and were placed on supply lists for grades 5K - 4th.

Quick Word Handbooks will be sold for $2.00 and were placed on supply lists for 1st/2nd grade.
