STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Melanie Lambarth is our staff member in the spotlight. Melanie started teaching in Columbia School District in 2015. She loves teaching Preschool...it is much more high energy than the mortgage industry, which was her former occupation! Her favorite thing about teaching Preschool is all of the hugs. Her favorite candy is pecan clusters, her favorite restaurant is the "Grasshopper" in Adrian, her favorite children's book is "Oh, the Places You Will Go." This summer she looks to forward going to Europe to visit Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany! She loves to read a lot and take her three kids to baseball and softball! Her favorite subjects in school are Math and Science. We are so grateful to Melanie for the wonderful job she does teaching our 4 year olds!

FUN RUN - Monday, April 29th
Students are collecting donations to walk and to support their school! Collection envelopes and prize incentive posters were sent home and students attended an assembly to learn how to participate.

Thank you for helping CES build a safe and creative playspace for our students!
*Please make checks payable to Columbia Elementary School.
**All money and forms are due the day of the Fun Run, Monday, April 29th.
***This donation is tax deductible.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Tired of one-word answers when you ask your child, “How was your day at school?”
Talking with your child about his/her school day is important. Try some of these questions or comments to dig a little deeper:
1. Best and worst: What was the best part of your day? What was the worst?
2. Tell me something that made you laugh today.
3. What is the coolest place at school?
4. Where do you play the most at recess? How come?
5. Tell me a weird word you heard today.
6. How did you help someone today?
7. How did someone help you today?
8. When were you happiest today?
9. When were you bored today?
10. Tell me about one thing you learned today.
