About OU

Founded in 1890, the University of Oklahoma is a public research university in Norman, Oklahoma — a short hop

(20 minutes) south of the state capital of Oklahoma City. OU’s Norman undergraduate population is just over 20,000,

giving students a major university experience in a private college atmosphere.

With three campuses in Oklahoma, OU also offers study abroad opportunities at several locations overseas.


From aerospace studies to visual communication, the University of Oklahoma has more than 150 majors to choose from.

Students have the opportunity to discover their squad in more than 400 campus organizations, and they don't have to look far to find awesome events. Sooners have their pick of dozens of intramural sports, Union Programming Board-hosted events like foam parties and satirical pageants (we're looking at you, Mr. OU), sno-cones on the South Oval and plays and musicals right here on campus. Gather your friends and learn to rock climb at the Huffman Physical Fitness Center, or settle down for a study session at one of OU's dozens of dining options.
