Welcome to 5th Grade!

Mrs. Haddas Room 115

Dear Students and Families,

I am Mrs. Haddas and I will be your fifth grade teacher this year. I am so excited that you are in my class. I can't wait to meet you and start our year together. I know that you are going to love fifth grade.

About Me

It has been my privilege to be a teacher for Ann Arbor Public Schools for 22 years. I earned my master's degree from Eastern Michigan University in Elementary Education in 1997. Since that time, I have continued expanding my own learning by taking classes in balanced literacy and educational technology.

When I'm not teaching I love to read, ride my bike, and spend time with my family. My husband Kirk is an investigational drug pharmacist for St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. Connor, my son, is fourteen and is very excited to start his freshmen year at Saline High School. I also have my own fifth grader this year. Paige is hoping to join us at Space Camp!

Communication is essential to me. I keep a classroom blog that is updated frequently. You will want to visit http://haddas5thgrade.blogspot.com for weekly updates, pictures, helpful resources, and to see everything that we are doing.

Curriculum Night is planned for Tuesday, September 10. I will be sharing important information for parents about classroom routines and curriculum at that time.

Please feel free to email me at haddas@aaps.k12.mi.us or call me if you have questions before that time. I welcome your thoughts and am looking forward to working together to make fifth grade a successful year.

Donations and Supplies

All necessary classroom supplies are provided for your student. We work at tables and use community supplies. If your student would like to bring some of their own items, here is a small list of things that would be useful:

  • a small pencil case or pouch
  • 3 pencils
  • a small pencil sharpener
  • a colored pen for correcting

The classroom can always use donations of Kleenex and cleaning wipes.
