Change to Full Distance Learning

October 30, 2020

No school November 9 & 10 and shift to distance learning on Thursday, November 12.

Dear Eastview Learning Community:

Beginning Thursday, November 12, we will begin our distance learning model with all students learning from home. There is no school for students on Monday, November 9 and Tuesday, November 10. Our quarter one will end, as originally planned, on Friday, November 13. Quarter two will begin on Monday, November 16. This shift will be for a minimum of four weeks.

We learned a lot last spring and our plan for this version of distance learning is improved and brings with it increased structure and routine for our students. In this model, our students will attend Zoom classes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Our teachers are awesome and have have learned to be nimble and creative in how they facilitate the learning for our students. They continue to work tirelessly collaborating with each other to implement options for our students to continue meaningful learning that measures up to our outstanding Eastview reputation. We are ready for this shift and we are ready to serve our students!

Digital Academy students will also shift their learning to the schedule that is provided below. All students will now be learning together on the same schedule.

Our Wednesdays will continue to be a student support and intervention day in additional to being an independent learning day. Our next Wednesday support day will be November 11.

Let's take care of each other. Check in with your children regularly about their academics and how they are feeling to be sure they are adjusting to this change and getting what they need. In this time of continued uncertainty we must continue to encourage and support our students to learn the best they can and to pay special attention to their friends and classmates. Our teachers, counselors and staff are sensitive to the range of emotions that students may be experiencing during this time. If you or your student need support, please reach out to a teacher, a counselor, or an administrator; we are all here to help in any way we can. Remember, we are available on Wednesdays for in-person support at Eastview High School.

Our goal is to get our students back into our hybrid learning model as soon as safely possible and back to in-person learning full time for all students. This is difficult for everyone and we will work together with you to continue to be the best we can.

Take care.
