Trust Mapping: a tool to preempt school bullying and social isolation
Bullying and social connectedness issues can often hinder students in their learning. A positive school environment creates an optimal setting for teaching and learning. To achieve this it is necessary to foster caring relationships among all members of the school community. At the heart of these relationships are student-to-student interactions. School is the primary social structure for children. When supported by a positive culture students are encouraged to communicate openly and understand that bullying, harassment and violence are not tolerated. As a result, these students will have increased personal wellbeing and an increased likelihood of success academically.

Quizizz just released three new features:
- Read Aloud on browsers: Earlier we had read aloud only on the apps. Now it also works on browsers (on desktop/laptops as well as mobile device browsers). This can be found in the Settings menu on the https://quizizz.com/join page. You can access it by clicking the cog icon while playing a game, or just go to the student settings page: https://quizizz.com/join/settings.
- Flashcard mode: This is a new mode that has been added for students. You can find it on the "Activity" page for students. Just go to https://quizizz.com/join (while being logged in) and click on the "Activity" link at the top of the page. (This page shows all the past activity of a student.) Click any quiz that you've completed, and you'll see 2 buttons "Play" and "Review" (Review is the flashcard mode). Just click it to see the new mode. They are planning to change that button to say "Flashcards" (or something similar).
- Require Login will prevent anonymous participants from joining your game. This can be toggled on in the settings.

How to create Screencast GIF's and use them in the classroom
How to Make Screencast GIFs
There are several tools available for taking screenshots, creating screencast videos, and creating animated GIF screencasts. I create these all the time and find they are particularly useful for showing students and teachers how-to complete short tasks or use features in your favorite applications. I’m sharing my favorite screencast GIF tool, Gyazo, in this post. Please feel free to share your favorites in the comments below this post.
