Kendallvue Weekly Updates
October 23 - 30, 2022
Happy Fall Break!
I hope you all had a wonderful fall break. This long weekend came a the right time. The beginning of October had a lot going on. My family and I were able to get to the mountains and still get in our soccer games. Now it's time to rake leaves and carve pumpkins!
Thank you to those of you who came to our Peiffer/Kendallvue community meeting on Monday. We had great conversation and some really good ideas how we can embrace this coming change for both schools. I spoke with our superintendent at the meeting for a while and she was very grateful for the way this community has embraced this change as an opportunity.
Another thank you for families who attended our parent/teacher conferences. While this makes for a long day for teachers, the value of our parent and teacher partnerships are worth the investment. I also want to thank our Kendallvue teachers for putting in the extra time to support our families.
Finally, I am looking forward to our Trunk or Treat event this Friday, October 28 (5-8pm). Last year, this event was a huge success. Next Monday will be Halloween and our parade and classroom parties will be at the end of the day (2:00pm). Students will have time to put on costumes in the afternoon so they do not have to wear them all day.
Cheers,
Bruce Lindsey

- October 27 is a late start addition to the family calendar. School doors will open at 9:55am. Breakfast is not served. There is also no AM preschool.
Halloween Parade & Parties
- Kendallvue is proud to be designated as a "Healthy School". As a result, we want to make sure at least half of our food treats must be healthy treats for all parties.
- On October 31, our parade route will start with preschool and they will walk around the school and pick up the other classes. Parties will take place when students return to the classroom.
- Please read this letter (click here) for all the details of the event next Monday.
- Parents will still need to check in at the main office to attend classroom parties.
Trunk or Treat
Kendallvue's Trunk or Treat on Oct 28 is from 5-8pm. We're so excited to continue this tradition and bring our community together! You'll be getting a flyer in Thursday folders next week, but here are few things to note:
- We will have food trucks - Original by Greeks, Roll it Up Sushi and Downtown Fingers. Come hungry! A portion of food truck sales goes back to Kendallvue.
- The parking lot will be closed to anyone who is not participating with a decorated trunk. We ask that you find street parking, carpool, etc. to keep the parking lot open and safe for the food truck and trunk-or-treat activity.
- If you're interested in having a trunk, donating candy or volunteering for the evening, we have a few spots available. Here's a signup genius link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090e4da9a72ba7fa7-kendallvue1
- The pumpkin carving contest is back! This year, we're asking that all pumpkins entering the contest arrive at the office no earlier than Wednesday Oct 26 and no later than Thursday, Oct 27 for voting. They will be displayed in the front hallway and students can vote on their favorite using a ticket provided in next Thursday's folders. Voting will be done before or after school on Friday, Oct 28. Come to Trunk or Treat to see if you're a winner! There are prizes for first, second and third place pumpkins!
- Come in costume! But leave those fake weapons at home, please.
- We want to see your pics! The photo booth will be up with fun props and decorations.
- Bring your friends and neighbors! This event is open to the entire community.
Destination Imagination
- At Destination Imagination (DI), we believe that when an educational experience is fun and hands-on, students are empowered and excited to take their learning to the next level. DI does this through project-based learning experiences that apply the creative process across seven Challenge types, helping students develop 21st century skills, including creative and critical thinking, collaboration, and project management.
- Check out the flyer in the PDF to get more information about this awesome experience. The information night is this Tuesday, October 25.
PTA Updates
