Hello Oakland Owls:
Monday is DAY 4 of the Specials Rotation****.
The media center and old science lab will be used as overflow rooms for Grandparent's Day guests. Ms. Maddox, please plan to push in for specials (2nd and kindergarten only). Ms. Jones, please use the art room for your classes during this time. The substitute for art will push in as well.
Fall break is coming... How will you reset and relax?
I am excited to see all teachers leaning toward providing quality instruction, utilizing district resources, and collaborating with their teams. In order to get better faster we must lean into reading the pre-work sent by the coaches, and plan to practice and model lessons together. When practicing and preparing lessons, check the mini-lesson rubric!

Teachers, please make sure you are entering your attendance in Infinite Campus Daily. We will also use the Checkmake Kiosk to sign in daily instead of the paper sign-in.
Remember, each subject should have one grade per week. Science and Social Studies grades should alternate(4.5 weeks science/4.5 weeks social studies).
Remember, teachers should be at their classroom door by 7:15 a.m. (5th grade should be in the cafeteria by 7:15 a.m. and exit the cafeteria by 7:30 a.m.)
Additional Staff is needed to assist with car riders from 7:25 - 7:35. Paraprofessionals, EIP, ESE, and Coaches, please report to the car rider lane from 7:25 - 7:35 daily.
Breakfast: All students should have lunch tags on their backpacks. Monday is Grandparent's Day. Please be ready to receive your students at 7:00 a.m. No one will eat in the cafeteria.

Please ensure you are here Monday September 11th by 7:00 am . (GOOD NEWS WE GET A BUS FUMES MONDAY !!)
Please park on the baseball field to allow grandparents to use our limited parking spaces. We are expecting 120 guests!
Students will be sent straight to class, with breakfast, no one will be eating in the cafeteria to ensure it is clean and set up for grandparents’ arrival.
A list of the students attending will be in your box tomorrow. You will get the list with all students that are on your grade level incase of a teammate’s absence.
We ask that the grade level chair assist with ensuring only the students on the list are sent to the breakfast. A kindergarten para will come by to pick up the students , please do not send them alone, and please have them ready to go.
Do not send any students that are not on the list!

Happy Monday OKE faculty and staff!
This is the big week before our long break begins! Please continue to encourage our students to stay on task by providing them multiple opportunities to earn Dojo points! As the PBIS staff and I went around with the Mobile PBIS store, we notice that serval classes did not have students participating. Earning Dojo points and Owl Bucks should not be an option, it is part of Oakland's Discipline model. If you need support in effectively implementing the discipline model, please reach out to Mrs. Potter or one of our wonderful coaches. We want to support you!
Kudos to all of the teachers who have been giving those Dojo points! The students are so excited about buying items from the Owl Store. Our monthly PBIS event will take place Friday, September 29th! Please be on the lookout for more information. Remember if you are have trouble with a particular student and need support, please email Mrs. Potter.

Clinic Protocols
Please ensure students have a clinic pass when they are sent to the clinic. Mrs. Watson provided these slips at the beginning of the school. Students will no longer be accepted without proper documentation.
To better address questions, faculty contacts for school activities have been identified. Please see the people listed on the document before coming to administration members.

Lunch Schedule:
The cafeteria is quite busy during lunch, so please plan to ensure that students arrive and are picked up on time (view the lunch schedule). Select two students to clean the tables and sweep when lunch is over. If you are a staff member with assigned lunch coverage, you must actively monitor students for the entire time you are supporting in the cafeteria. View the lunch and lunch coverage schedules.

Hello Team,
Last week was the first week for the Second Step platform, social and emotional learning at OKE. This week, we are on Lesson 2 in Unit 1. Lesson 2 will be implemented for the entire week. Each lesson is implemented for the entire week. Thus far, we have 29 classrooms created for the Second Step platform, we have a few teaches with technical issues and I have notified the district of the teachers who are experiencing technical issues. I will notify the teachers when the technical issues have been resolved for Second Step.
This week, I will continue to work with 3rd through 5th grades with completing the HenryCares Survey, during their media special. Teachers and staff surveys will be completed during a Thursday PD session. The date for staff and teachers survey completion will be forthcoming.

I have started the school garden and I am very excited about the school garden. If you are interested in assisting with the school garden, please let me know. Special thank you to Dr. Woodly-Ross, who assisted me after school last week with planting seeds in the school garden. It was a nice opportunity to deepen of relationship with Dr. Woodly-Ross.

REMINDER: LABOR DAY (NO SCHOOL) on Monday, September 4th
It has been truly a blessing to see that the seeds planted have come to harvest in the new school year. We have had donations from Great American Cookie, the Marble Slab, and the Children's Hospital, to name a few.
Please let us know if you know of any businesses and/or entrepreneurs willing to attend our Career/College Readiness Day at Oakland. We're planning to have the trucks on one day and the businesses later in the school year, during the Spring.

I will continue to come to classes during the science lab block over the next couple weeks. Please be sure to check your calendar as I will be sending calendar invites .
A note from Mrs. Barnett: Please email me when you a student requesting to see me. I am currently located in Trailer #1 until Friday, September 1st, therefore I am normally back and forth in the building for grades 3, 4, and 5. I will always email you back to let you know if I am able to receive your student at the time. I will be relocating on the 4th grade hallway as of September.
We will continue to roll out information for small groups. Prior to sending the permissions home, consult with us to ensure that the student is a great fit for small group, or if the student requests referral for the outside therapy service.
