OLP Library Newsletter

November, 2019

What does this mean, you ask? Well, it stands for National Novel Writing Month. This wonderful opportunity is an annual, Internet-based creative writing project that takes place during the month of November. Participants attempt to write a 50,000-word manuscript between November 1 and November 30. Well-known authors write "pep-talks" to keep you motivated throughout the process. Check it out here: NaNoWriMo website. We would love to share your success, so let your librarians know if you participate!

Big picture

Happy Birthday, Margaret Atwood

If you've taken Dystopian Literature here at OLP, you've probably heard of Margaret Atwood who was born on November 18, 1939 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Her 1985 novel, The Handmaid's Tale, was adapted into an original mini-series by Hulu which created a resurgence of interest in her writing. Stop by the library to check out a copy of one of her books or grab the sequel to The Handmaid's Tale: The Testaments.
