LMS Teachers Honored

LMS staff nominate their colleagues for "Awesome Cardinal" awards each month. Teachers nominate other teachers and staff who are going above and beyond to be great colleagues and staff members! March nominees were Andrea Chamberlain, Andy Robinson, and Debra Wilkinson. For the month of April, Lynn Bach, Diane Moyer, Janine Sharrard, and Aaron Wood were nominated. Congratulations to our nominees!

Activity Night

LMS Student Council hosted Activity Night on April 21. Students played Wii bowling, ping pong, participated in a 3-on-3 basketball contest, a chess tournament, and enjoyed various games and contests. Lots of prizes and goodies were handed out to students who attended! Thanks to the LMS Student Council for this fun event!

LMS Earth Day Activity

LMS Student Council organized students to beautify the grounds of LMS on April 26. Students raked leaves, collected trash, and cleaned the grounds. Thanks to all the students who participated! A special thanks to Mrs. Fleming and Mrs. Sobek for organizing this event!

Coffee House Poetry Event to Raise Autism Awareness

Mrs. Fleming's English classes took part in the Autism Awareness activities hosted by the library during the month of April. The culminating activity involved students sharing their original poetry during a coffee house event.

LMS Students Perform at the State Choir Festival

On April 22nd the Legg Middle School 6th and 7th grade choirs participated in MSVMA's State Choral Festival held at Holt High School. Both choirs sang beautifully and received positive comments about their singing, artistry, and mature sound. The adjudicated event was a positive and fun experience for all involved. In March, both choirs qualified at the District Choral Festival with Excellent Ratings. The 7th grade choir was only two points away for receiving the top rating of Excellent with Superior Distinction. The choirs were accompanied by Justine Hostetler, and are under the direction of Caitlin McDougall. Congratulations choirs!

Student Council Dance

The LMS Student Council hosted an all school dance on Thursday, May 12. Thanks to Mrs. Fleming, Mrs. Sobek, and all of our teacher chaperones!

Cardinal Pride and GRIT Challenge

During the month of April the Cardinal Pride goal was to not be tardy to class. Students did a great job achieving this goal! 79% of 6th grade students, 86% of 7th graders, and 74% of 8th grade students successfully met the Cardinal Pride goal for the month!

The May Cardinal Pride goal is focused on good behavior. Students who have 0-1 RTP visit or 0-1 SSL will achieve this goal. Cardinals make good choices!

Students who successfully completed the Cardinal Pride goals for February, March, and April have earned the GRIT Challenge reward! Students will have the option to attend the Battle Creek Bombers game on June 1st. 69% of 6th graders, 79% of 7th graders, and 89% of 8th graders earned the GRIT Challenge reward! Cost for the game is $8.00, which covers the cost of the game, lunch, and transportation. Permission forms have been sent home with students, and are due by May 23, 2016. Great job Cardinals!

Honors Night

Please mark your calendars for Legg Middle School Honors Night! Sixth and seventh grade students will be honored for their academic achievements on Thursday, June 9. Invitations will be sent out to students who will receive awards. The sixth grade ceremony starts at 6:00 p.m. in the LMS gymnasium. The seventh grade ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m.

June 10 at 7:00 p.m. eighth graders will be honored. All eighth graders are invited to attend honors night.

Spanish Tutoring

Spanish tutoring will be available beginning May 18th! Mrs. Simonds and Mrs. Langer, CHS Spanish teachers, will be offering tutoring once a week from 2:50-3:50 in their CHS classrooms. Please sign up in the main office if you're interested!

Summer School 2016

Summer school will be held at LMS during two weeks of July and two weeks of August. Breakfast will be provided at 8:00, students will be in class from 8:30-11:30 (with a break), and lunch will be served from 11:30-12:00. Counselors are contacting parents regarding summer school recommendations.
