A Message from the Elementary Principals
Dear Winnetka Families,
Spooky season has arrived! We are looking forward to celebrating Halloween on Monday, 10/31. Our festivities will include dressing up as well as spooktacular activities. While each school and classroom will put its own twist on the day, we are all looking forward to having fun together!
Any adults coming into the building, to support class parties, must have their state ID screened by our entrance monitors. This can be done prior to Monday. We will hold your name tag at school for an expedited check-in on Monday. If you have been recently screened, please let the entrance monitor know you are coming and they will check the system and can print out your name tag without you stopping by.
Here are some reminders that will help to ensure that all students enjoy their time in school.
- Please remember to leave any costume weapons at home
- Only regular safety/health masks can be worn; no Halloween masks may be worn at school
- Due to safety considerations, there will be no food served per district practice
- Dismissal is at 2:45 pm, as it is a Monday
- Additional reminder: there is no school for students on 11/1 (Teacher Institute Day)
Thank you for helping us to create a safe event for all of our students.
Sincerely,
Beth Carmody, Hubbard Woods
Luke Livingston, Crow Island
Joshua Swanner, Greeley
Greeley Unity Art
As part of this week, students at Greeley engaged in a unity art project. We created artwork to inspire and remind us of our commitment to unity in our school. We are inviting the larger community to participate in this art project!
Please have household members (who are not students at Greeley) create an image of themselves freehand or using the template provided. Design your person with a vision for how you see yourself. Cut out your illustration and return it back to school. Please turn in your artwork by November 4th. We will be uniting our Greeley community by displaying everyone holding hands. Our goal is to get enough people to wrap around the entire school. Thanks for your participation!
Picture Retakes
Picture Retake Day is Tuesday, October 25. If you would like to have your child's picture taken again, please email Ms. Park (meredithpark@winnetka36.org) and Mr. Schreiber (gordonschreiber@winnetka36.org) so we can see they get to the photographers for a retake. We also have a list of children who didn't get their picture taken so if your child was absent on Picture Day we will also see that they have their portrait done that day.
Reminder: Mosaic Dedication Ceremony

Maneuvering the ever-changing landscape of technology, social media, and phones for students is a daunting task for any parents. This session will increase parent awareness and provide basic skills of how to maneuver through platforms, identify warning signs to look for, and hopefully reduce the stress of parenting students online in addition to in-person.
