Happy New Year!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The new year and semester are starting quickly at Homer High School. Students in language arts classes are studying and memorizing poetry for a competition next week. Below you will find an overview of the current material we are exploring in World Literature (Language Arts 10).

1. Poetry Out Loud

2. Poetic Devices

3. Selected Poetry from Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, Russia, and Africa.

1. Persuasive: Taking a Stand

a. World Issue of Choice

Monthly Choice Book

Students are responsible to read one book per month. Their first in class assessment will be February 6th. This means students should select a book of choice (non-fiction, fiction, drama, poetry, etc.) and read, completing the work by the 6th. On that day, or soon after, students will share their response to the text during class.
