3rd Quarter Library Report

January 6-March 10, 2017

Prepare--Promote--PARTICIPATE--Collaborate

The focus for the 3rd Quarter of the 2016-2017 school year was to encourage active participation of the Library's resources, including traditional Library resources (books) and the new Makerspace technology.
  • Complete genre-based fiction shelving to enable students to browse and self-select reading material more easily;
    Status: Genre-based shelving is complete! A BHS student will provide create directional signage as his Eagle Scout project.
  • Implement #what2readwed via Twitter, targeting English classes;
    Status: We began this literacy promotion in March and will continue throughout the school year. The Library will encourage school-wide participation via Twitter & Litsy. Library will also create Instagram account to promote.
  • Utilize Library student leaders to develop activities and challenges for Makerspace resources;
    Status: Used student leaders to design and facilitate Curriculum Night activities. Expert students demonstrating and promoting use of 3D printers.
  • Develop Makerspace Policies and Best Practices
    Status: Initial policies and best practice have been drafted and are currently being revised.

4th Quarter Goals--Collaborate & Create

  • Promote meaningful use of Library Makerspace resources with Weekly Challenges.
  • Continue to work with classroom teachers to use Makerspace resources during the testing season.
  • Use survey created by the Student Library Advisory Committee to determine student needs and interests for future Library programming.
