Principal's Corner - Parent/ Teacher Conferences

In a week, we have two days of Parent/ Teacher Conferences. These days are important to clarify your questions, review classroom policies, and get on track for a successful Spring. Also, stop by the office with questions and any updates to your PowerSchool Contact information.

Parent/ Teacher Conferences:

  • Bring Your Questions
  • Share and learn what is going well for your child
  • Discuss what area needs support for your child to be successful
  • Review classroom routines - clear and consistent communication from home and school has the best impact on student learning
  • Meet with the school specialists: PE, Music, SPED, Counselor, Librarian
  • Check PowerSchool Information so we can contact you in an emergency
  • Complete Title One Spring Survey linked here

Arty Award Applications are available. These awards go the the Primary and Intermediate girls and boys that best represent our school motto: Do Good Work, Be a Friend, Every Day. They are due March 10th.

Reading Contest~Adults too - Read during the week of Parent/ Teacher Conferences and during the week of Read Across America. Winners receive lunch with the principal. I hear he likes to talk about books.

Science Fair - pick a category that excites you. Projects are brought into classrooms on February 28th. Judging happens on March 2nd so they will be open for viewing during our Literacy Night and Friday March 3rd.

Literacy Night - March 2nd: 5-7pm. Join us for family fun that Thursday night during Read Across America Week. See below for more.

No Crossing Guard - Durham is struggling to obtain a crossing guard at the front entrance and Neely Rd. Please remind your walking children to be careful at this crossing. Drivers, please be careful: we get staff out when we can for dismissal.

Sunglasses - your child may need them for recess when the sun is out.

Looking forward to seeing you soon.
