GHA Staff Newsletter
Dec. 2018
Thank you!
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire team! You have worked so hard this year to help GHA improve and it shows! I know this was a stressful start of the year with the new curriculum for N3-Grade 8, new subject choices in High School, and new students in nursery. I also know the new technology has taken time to get comfortable. Everyone has shown a can do attitude! Your open-mindedness and growth mindset is appreciated! Thank you for being role models for our students!
Updates
AdvancED date change
Our original AdvancED visit was scheduled for the beginning of May. Unfortunately the dates overlapped with a big summit being held in Kigali so we have pushed back our visit to May 20th-23rd. Please update your calendars.
Staff room
We have opened a new staff room, for all staff, in the OB. It is on the first floor across from the previous small staff room. The old cramped staff room will now be a staff kitchen and the classroom across the hall has been turned into a staff workroom. The kitchen has a coffee maker, kettle and microwave. Please come hang out!
Please note the staff room originally planned for MS is now moved here, as a class needed the room in the MS. Sorry for the confusion.
New staff member
We have another person joining our team in January. Her name is Immaculee and she is joining GHA as a school social worker. She will work with our other counselors, Jacky and Julien, to help support the social and emotional growth of our student population. Please be sure to say hello.
Remote PD website
We now have a website where we will be adding content for additional professional development and growth. This will take the place of the remote PD newsletters and will allow you to access it more easily. Please check it out! The topics cater to our instructional strategies. Thank you Principal Marcos for building this for the team.

Don't forget we also have our staff Facebook page "GHA Rockstars!" and our Pinterest page for other ideas sharing.
Happy holidays!
I hope you all have a safe, enjoyable and relaxing break. Please engage in some self-care. As educators we tend to give and give to our students and now is the time to take care of yourself. Happy holidays and Happy New Year! However you choose to celebrate, I hope it is a time filled with love and laughter.
