PCS Citizen of the Month program
Just a reminder . . .
The Pillars of Character Education
Petersham Center School is going to emphasize the Pillars of Character Education: Compassion, Fairness, Integrity, Perseverance, Responsibility, Respect, and Self-Discipline for our Citizen of the Month Program going forward. Below is a brief description of each remaining pillar for this school year.
At each Student Assembly, a student will be announced from each class who was an exemplary model of the pillar of the month, given a certificate signed by the Principal, their picture will be hung in the cafeteria, and a PCS Citizen of the Month cinch bag.
January: INTEGRITY (PLEASE BE THINKING OF WHO SHOULD RECEIVE THIS NOW)
Having respect for yourself and treat others with respect, doing your very best work, working well with others, appreciating yourself
February: PERSEVERANCE
You do not give up doing something, even if it is difficult. Even if you are not successful right away, you keep trying. You try multiple ways to achieve a goal. You also motivate others to keep trying.
March: RESPONSIBILITY
Do what you are supposed to do • Plan ahead • Persevere: keep on trying! • Always do your best • Use self-control • Be self-disciplined • Think before you act — consider the consequences • Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes
April: RESPECT
Treat others with respect how you want to be treated, the Golden Rule • Be tolerant and accepting of differences • Use good manners, not bad language • Be considerate of the feelings of others • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements
May: SELF-DISCIPLINE
Always do your share, always work your hardest, change poor habits, always consider the consequences and make the most the responsible decisions a reminder . . .Casual Fridays

-remember to send home a receipt to all parents the next day after you have received the work
-please just send me a email of attendance as soon as you have it (I still need from teachers for the last two days)
each teacher should only send me the attendance for the class and content that they are responsible for
If you should have any questions, please ask me!

PCS School Council
If you are interested in serving on the PCS School Council, please send me an email expressing your desire to join! After I have the list of interested people, all staff will have to vote on exactly who will represent them (again this is a state rule).
New Salem Grant
We have received 2,000 from the NSA grant to shop till we drop. Tracy and Christina would like to get feedback from you all and our students to help us decide which books to purchase for the library. Here's how it's "going down":
Was Completed by Christmas break-
* Staff and students will add books to their wish lists.
Before January 31st-
* We invite each classroom teacher (including Bridget and Missy) to fill purchase orders with a total of $225.00 in book titles and submit to Christina
(please let Christina know if you are not interested in participating and she will reallocate
your money to all)
We ask that you check on the Scholastic book sites for titles first, since then we would receive bonus points for additional books. Search hardcover books and many pages are available.
You can choose fiction or non-fiction as we are in need of both.
By February 5th-
*Christina will submit all purchase orders to the office for ordering
When all books are received we'll plan a whole school assembly to unveil the books and celebrate this wonderful gift!!
Please see Tracy or Christina with any questions.
