A Message from the Administrator

Greetings MCS Families,

A reminder that tomorrow is conferences and school work is not required. More importantly, tomorrow is Veteran’s Day! I would like to thank all of the veterans in our MCS family for their service and support over the years. If you have a chance tomorrow, encourage your child to thank a veteran on their day off from school.

With winter weather approaching, we would like to remind you of our inclement weather protocol.

Per our charter, we will follow the decision of Greg Bailey, Superintendent of the Moscow School District. Greg and Greg Harris, the Transportation Supervisor, will begin assessing the situation at 4:00 am. They will be driving the roads, viewing the internet weather forecasts, and contacting county and city road departments to check on road conditions and the forecasted weather. They also will view the traffic cameras located within Moscow and along highway 95 to determine current conditions throughout the region, as well as predict whether the storm will continue or be short lived.

After reviewing all of the information, Greg Bailey will make the final decision to close school based on whether there is drifting snow in the surrounding rural areas within the district boundaries, the roads are extremely slick, and the weather appears to be getting worse and a forecast that predicts the poor weather to continue. If school is determined to be cancelled, notification will be sent out by 6:00 am. Our office will send an email and post on our website and Facebook page to notify families. We will also inform media groups such as KHQ, KLEW, KREM, KXLY, and our local radio stations. Please check these locations in the morning to find out if school will be in session.

We do not participate in two hour delays because many of the School District bus drivers work part time and have other jobs in between routes which makes them unavailable.

With the recent preparation for distance learning for students on the Hybrid track, as well as the students that are online-only, “Snow Days” will be different. Instructional staff will be expected to continue to hold class, but in the distance learning format for all students. Students that are doing Online-Only will be expected to continue classes as usual. The only time we will close completely is if we have a long-term electrical outage causing instruction to be halted.

I hope you all have a great rest of your week!

A Message from the Secretary

As most of you now, my office space is now located within the new MS building. Due to this, it is very important for your student check in with me upon arrival if they are tardy. Thanks so much for your help with this.

It's time for our annual autumn food drive! This will begin on next Monday, Nov. 9th, and will end December 11th!

The prize for this will be Bragging Rights and a special certificate for your student's classroom!

Classroom boxes will be in the Middle School Hallway, at the south entrance. ASB will keep posted, running tally of your classroom amounts, so when your kids see the box has been emptied, fear not!
