Happy Friday Mountlake Terrace Community,
What Already has Occurred
⁃ Staff is regularly supporting students with tech issues, they are responding during Zoom meetings, via email, supporting at the building and even occasionally going to people’s homes. I blown away by how people have stepped up and gone above and beyond to ensure student success.
⁃ Last night we had a technology night. We helped families with technical issues, signed families up for free/reduced lunches, signed younger siblings up for free preschool and shared information about how to get clothing if needed. Please let us know if you need support with any of these things. The office will be happy to connect you to the correct person.
⁃ Teachers are spending hours to create meaningful and engaging lessons and learn to use technology in a completely different way. They are showing up in a joyful and supportive way every day through all this stress and change.
⁃ Staff is calling to check in with families that have specific needs and connecting them with the needed resources.
⁃ Paraeducator staff is creating Lunch Bunch, getting packets ready for kids, supporting during Zoom meetings and getting ready to help run small groups.
What is Upcoming:
⁃ Lunch Bunch: this began this week and will continue. It is from 11:45-12:15 pm daily. This is an opportunity for students to see their friends, connect with staff, play games and have fun. It is staffed by a number of MTE employees. Please come join us and connect with others in the community.
⁃ Packet pick-up will be happening next Wednesday September 30th all day. You can drive up to the school and a staff member will get you a packet of supplies your student needs. These pick ups will happen every 2-3 weeks. The specific times for pick up on September 30th are: 9 am -3:30 pm or from 5-6:30 pm. Please know there will be very few staff on hand for the evening, so please practice grace with us.
⁃ There will an opportunity to meet with the principal in October. It is important to me to hear what you need, connect with you and find out how I can support. Please watch for dates and times to come in the next week.
Finally and importantly, thank you to our MTE families, community members and support systems. You all are doing an amazing job supporting your children during this difficult time. I honor and respect the way you all are showing up. This is hard, we are strong, we are united and we will continue to create amazing things together.
Yours in learning,
Mary Williams
Become an Observer for your student's Canvas courses (Grades 3-12)
As an observer you will be linked to your student(s) Canvas courses as they progress through Edmonds School District. Families need to link their observer account to their student(s) ONE TIME to follow their student from 3rd to 12th grade. Each time your student is enrolled in new courses (at the start of each semester), these courses will also be displayed on your Canvas Dashboard
The observer role is different from the student role. Observers can view course data but cannot participate in all Canvas areas. Observers cannot submit work on behalf of the students they observe, but they can see student grades, assignments and events, and course interactions. Observers cannot view a course until it is published by the teacher and the course has started. Observers will also not be able to view a course after the course end date.
Learning Materials Packet Pick-up dates set
- Not all grades will necessarily have packets to go out every time so look out for specific communication from your teachers.
- This will be a drive through event from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- If you are unable to pick-up during this time, left over packets will be put outside the front door for self serve pick-up the following day. Please make every effort to pick-up during the drive up event.
Dates Planned so far:
- September 30th
October 14th
