Kindergarten Weekly Update
What's Happening in K ....
Well, it looks like we will be continuing with our virtual learning for quite some time. The school board won't be voting again on the matter until mid December. That being said, we will be stepping up instruction and adding more time to our ZOOM lessons soon. We will be asking students to log on later in the day for 'small group' and/or 'individual' practice. We may be asking students to come in one at a time to complete the iReady diagnostic test in the next coming weeks, too. More information will come on all of this later.
For the week of 10/19-10/23, we will be continue to focus on letters Mm & Tt, and begin working on Ss. We will also be doing our first 'blending' activities, meaning we will start sounds out words. We will practice retelling stories, focusing on telling what happens at the beginning, middle and end of the book. We will work with numbers 6 & 7 in math and practice counting. For Science, we will talk about spiders and bats. It should be a fun time for all!
IMPORTANT:
This Wednesday, October 21, is a teacher remote workday. Teachers will be in meetings and professional developments all day. However, it is not a 'free day' for students. We will have recordings of lessons posted and assignments for students to complete. They should come to the Google Classroom in the morning like it is a regular day. Everything they need to watch and do will be at the top of the classroom page waiting for them. Students who do not complete the assignments and send proof to the teacher, will be marked absent. Per the powers that be: THIS IS NOT TO BE A FREE DAY FOR STUDENTS.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. ☺️ - Ms. Pennington & Mrs. Whittemore
