Welcome Back to a New School Year!
We want to share the topics that the school counselors will be covering this year. Each grade level counselor will go into the classroom to do Social Emotional Lessons (SEL) with the students. These lessons will cover a variety of themes such as respect, team building, problem solving and empathy. Some of the other topics we cover are bullying, positive mental health and the state mandated Erin’s Law (child sexual abuse awareness). If you would like to opt-out of the Erin’s Law curriculum, please submit this form to your grade level counselor.
Our approach is to teach students to make positive healthy choices for themselves. These lessons will occur throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s grade level counselor. We are looking forward to a great year!

Parking Lot Procedures
Student Arrival Procedures
Students arriving to school via the BUS will enter through Door #2 (300-Wing), Door #3A (New 6th Grade 900-Wing) and Door #4 (400/500-Wing). Students will be granted permission to disembark the school bus by a staff member no earlier than 8:40 AM.
Students that are being dropped off by CAR should arrive no earlier than 8:30 AM. Car drop-off will occur in front of the building along the long curb. Once on property, cars turn left and stack a single file line through the parking lot making their way patiently toward the concrete sidewalk. We ask that cars pull all the way forward as much as possible and then drop students at the sidewalk alongside the building. Once dropped off at school, students will proceed either to their lockers or to the Commons.
Once you are at the curb, please have your student exit the car immediately so as to keep the traffic flowing. While the weather is nice, students are welcome to hang out on the sidewalk until the doors open.
Student Dismissal Procedures
Students who are riding the BUS after school will be directed to a live updated bus map, which displays where their assigned bus route is parked in our new bus lanes.
Individuals picking up students at the end of the day should follow the same procedures as morning drop off above. Once on property, cars turn left and stack a single file line through the parking lot making their way patiently towards the concrete sidewalk along the building. We ask that cars pull all the way forward as much as possible. After picking up students, we ask that traffic needing to travel eastbound toward Route 14 exit at the stop light, while traffic needing to travel westbound use the ELC exit. Please see the hyperlinked map for reference.
Staff will be outside assisting in the flow of traffic should you have questions.
A Message from our District’s Family School Liaison
Welcome to the 22-23 school year! Whether you have a new student, or have been part of the Sunny Hill community for years, the beginning of the school year can be an overwhelming time. As a new or returning family, it might be helpful to know Barrington 220's Mission Statement to: “Empower personal excellence in every learner”.
With that being said, my name is Ruth Estrada and I am delighted to serve as the District Family School Liaison for Barrington 220. It is my desire to ensure that you have access to as much information as possible to improve the mission statement and work collaboratively to best support your student(s). As the school year begins, you may have encountered many questions. If that is the case please feel free to contact me directly.
