Silver Springs Holiday Cookie Exchange
It’s that time of year to prepare for the annual Silver Springs Staff Cookie Exchange. We are asking our families to help spread the holiday cheer by baking 2 – 3 dozen cookies or holiday goodies for the wonderful teachers and staff. Please use sign-up genius link below. Please have all cookies/goodies in the office by 1 PM on Thursday, December 15th. Please identify your cookies/goodies. Also, label any trays or plates with your name if you would like returned.
The PTA greatly appreciates your help with this holiday event for those who work at Silver Springs.
Book Fair Raffle - THANK YOU!
Thank you to all of the students who participated in the Book Fair Raffle. With your donations we were able to meet our goal and purchase a new set of "pet" books for the library.
We would also like to congratulate the 8 winners of the raffle. Happy Reading!
Girls on the Run
It is that time of year again! Girls on the Run spring registration is quickly approaching and we are in need of parent volunteers to keep the program at Silver Springs. Girls on the Run is available for 3-5 grade girls. It gives them the opportunity to exercise, develop friendships, participate in team building activities, and learn how to handle difficult situations. Spring season is March 13th-May 26th. Parents need to commit to 1-2 days per week after school.
If you are interested in volunteering for this program or have more questions, please contact Pam Schulman schulmpa@northvlleschools.org

Habit #5 - Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
What this means: Listen before you talk. In order to communicate effectively, we must first understand each other.
“I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings.”
“I try to see things from their viewpoints.”
“I listen to others without interrupting.”
“I am confident in voicing my ideas.”
“I look people in the eyes when talking.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Listen.
2. Put yourself in the other person’s place.
3. Notice a person’s body language, tone, and reflection in their voice.
