What is Office365?

Office365 is a set of rich communication and collaboration tools that will engage students and teachers in 21st century digital learning. Office365 is a closed collaboration environment designed specifically for the use of Peel District School Board teachers and students.


At a glance, it offers teachers and students the following:



  • Student / Teacher Email Accounts (50 GB)
  • Personal Calendar and Contacts
  • Private Social Networking (Newsfeed)
  • Cloud Storage (25GB OneDrive)
  • Microsoft Web Apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Teacher / Student Blogs
  • Interactive Class Sites / Wikis / Blogs

Creating and sharing new files as a PDSB teacher using Office365

Sending Email to Student Distribution Lists

To search for a student distribution list with People tool or send an email with the Outlook email tool to a student distribution list you will need to input s and the school number and the course or homeform deignation. For example, an elementary school could be s1517-1C.

Using the Blogging Tool: Enabling Save As Draft

For those of you that require a few more moments before you publish your blog, enable the Save As Draft feature.


1. On the blog page, click Manage posts to enter the posts list.


2. Click LIST > List Settings in the top navigation bar.


3. Click Versioning settings.


4. Select Yes besides Content Approval and click OK


Please note that only when you create a new post, you can save it as a draft..

1. Click Manage Posts

For those of you that would like to approve/reject/edit student or other indvidual comments do the following


1. On the blog page, click Manage Comments to enter the posts list.


2. Click LIST > List Settings in the top navigation bar.


3. Click Versioning settings.


4. Select Yes besides Content Approval and click OK.

PDSB Office365 and Sharepoint Resources

PDSB also has resources for Office365 and Sharepoint in the On-line Help Centre. To access these resources, go to your MySite page- the Peel Intranet page (where you access your email). On the right hand side is the link for the On-line Help Centre it is under Peel Links (http://intranet.peelschools.org/helpcentre/Pages/default.aspx). You can also access it through your MyDepartment page, look for the blue tile in the top right corner entitled On-line Help Centre. You can also access MyClass Help with the Office365 environment make sure you are logged into the PDSB network (https://pdsb1.sharepoint.com/sites/Help/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/SitePages/Home.aspx).
