IT'S PARTY TIME AT HP!
It's time for our second trimester All-School Party! Students are encouraged to stay after-school on Thursday, January 12th for games in the gym, music in the commons, and board games in the great hall. All students are welcome!
Here's what our families need to know:
Is your child staying for the party? How are they getting home? If they are riding the Activity Bus home for the first time, do they know their home address? If you’re picking them up, do they know where to meet you?
All-School Party on Thursday, January 12th starts at 2:45P and ends at 4:00P. There is no cost for students.
The All-School Party is an extension of the school day; therefore, students will not be allowed to use cell phones during the party.
Activity Buses will be available for regular bus riders. Students need to know their home address. IMPORTANT: Due to the substantial number of students riding the activity buses home, the buses will run LATER than usual (some students may arrive home as late as 5:00PM or after) and most students will not be dropped off at their regular bus stop. (Drop-off locations will be more like snow route stops.)
THIS IS SOMETHING NEW!! We are asking our families to please not use the main entrance to pick-up students until ALL buses have departed campus following the party.
If you are planning to pick-up your student at 4:00PM, please decide with your student where they should meet you immediately following the party. To avoid the after-party traffic around HP, you may want to consider an alternative meeting spot:
- Pick-up your student in parking lot closest to the KHS gym (Students can use bridge from HP to walk over to Kamiak HS)
- Pick-up your student at the Mukilteo Library or Boys & Girls Club
- Pick-up you student across the street from our main entrance in the neighborhood (50th Ave)
- PLEASE DO NOT MAKE TWO LINES/LANES OF TRAFFIC ENTERING THE BACK PARKING LOT OF SCHOOL.
- Enter the back driveway using the right lane and exit using the left lane.
Thank you for all the holiday sweet treats!
I'd also like to thank our wonderful HP PTO for hosting the HOLIDAY COOKIE EXTRAVAGANZA on 12/15 and all the parents who brought in treats. A BIG thank you goes out to Allison Nelson, Rehanna Meyer and Patricia Bai for setting up and cleaning up this special event!
What a gift it was for our staff to be able to take home sweet treats to our families and friends! Thank you for all you do for our HP staff. We hope you had a terrific holiday season!
DATE CHANGE FOR MEETING!! NON-SCHOOL SPONSORED 8th GRADE EAST COAST TRIP NEWS
Those students who are going back East over Spring Break, please check Schoology for a recent letter with important information. Please also mark your calendars ~ We will have a required meeting on Tuesday, January 10th at 7:00PM in the HP Library. Any questions? Check in with one of us!
Thanks, Mr. Aitken and Mrs. Riccardo

The 2023 HP Spring Musical will be . . .
THANK YOU to all students who took the time to cast votes for the upcoming 2023 Spring Musical. The top two choices were close, but one beat the other! “Peter Pan” was a popular choice, but “Beauty and the Beast” won hands down. I am excited to announce that “Beauty and the Beast” will be the 2023 Spring Musical, to be produced at the Kamiak PAC in late May.
This extra-curricular activity is open to anyone in the school, grades 6, 7 or 8, with passing grades, and with the desire to be involved in drama, learn lines, music and dance and become friends with other cast members. I am looking for a cast of about 25 to 30 students who are willing to make the commitment for three months of hard work.
I will be holding a couple of classes towards the end of January for anyone interested in learning the music ahead of time, getting to know the characters and the story line, and filling out the audition packet. Some of the main characters include Belle, the Beast, Narrators, the Enchantress, Gaston, Maurice, Lefou, Lumiere, Cogsworth, Chip, the Madame and Babette. Not interested in a large part? The cast list requires servants and villagers. Songs that are popular include “Belle”, “Into the Forest”, “Be our Guest” and of course, “Beauty and the Beast”.
All the information about the Spring Musical can be found on the Drama Bulletin board outside the Student Services. Pictures, flyers, audition dates etc., can be seen on that bulletin board, after the Holiday Break, plus announcements will be posted on HPTV.
Questions? Stop in so I can meet you in W210.
I’m excited! I hope you are pleased with YOUR choice for the 2023 Spring Musical of “Beauty and the Beast”. Mrs. Riccardo

Participation in DRAMA BOOSTERS is a very important part of what makes our HP Spring Musical so successful!
Q: Who participates in Drama Boosters?
A: Parents/Guardians of our cast members!
This year, DRAMA BOOSTERS needs someone to serve as President (possibly a 7th or 8th grade parent who has some experience with Drama Boosters). If this is something you would consider, please let me know.
Students, if you have questions, please stop in and see me in W210. Parents, if you have questions, please email at riccardoae@mukilteo.wednet.edu
Thank you,
Mrs. Riccardo
