Morning Car Rider Reminders
Also, we added a dotted line to our parking lot this year to help families know where the two drop off lanes begin. Please be sure to utilize both of these lanes in the mornings for a quicker, smoother car rider drop off process. Using both lanes also helps reduce traffic back-ups on Hampton Road. See the image below for clarification. Thank you for your help!

COUNTDOWN TO KINDERGARTEN
Do you have a child or know someone with a child starting kindergarten in the fall? We are now taking kindergarten information for the 2021-22 school year for children who will be five years old on or before July 31 this year. Please call the UC office and let us know!
It’s time to countdown to kindergarten, and there are three things to do if you have a child who will start kindergarten in Park Hill this August:
3: Enroll or verify starting April 5! If you are new to the district, enroll here after April 5. If you already have a child enrolled in Park Hill or your child currently attends the Gerner Family Early Education Center, you will verify your family and student information, and add any new students when you complete the verification and residency process. For both new and returning families, you can enroll in summer school at the same time.
2: Save the date for our Kindergarten Kickoff event, which will be in the evening on May 6. You and your child will get a chance to get to know your new school and get excited for kindergarten! After you enroll, we will send you information about how to sign up for an appointment for Kindergarten Kickoff, since we are physically distancing.
1: Save the date for the first day of school on Monday, August 23! In the meantime, we will work with you to schedule a kindergarten readiness assessment to help us better meet your child’s educational needs.
Please contact Susan Sadler in the UC office at 816.359.4310 for questions regarding the enrollment/verification process.
Ukuleles At Union Chapel
Grades 4 & 5 are learning to play the ukulele, and your child is very excited! We are so lucky to have 28 ukuleles at UC! Through various funding such as PTA, a private donor, and district budget money, I was able to purchase ukuleles and all of the resources needed to teach the ukulele unit during music.
Your child has been asking lots of questions:
· Where can they purchase their own ukulele?
· What brand?
· How much?
Listed below are a few resources to help you if you are interested. A ukulele is a great beginning string instrument due to its size and the use of nylon strings. The ukulele would make a great gift! They come in lots of fun colors, too! I suggest a soprano ukulele by Kala. I have purchased the Waterman series. They cost between $40-$60 each. I also recommend a clip-on string tuner which often costs $10. I purchased the class set of ukuleles from West Music. Here is the link. Link to West Music for the tuner.
Locals places that may have Ukuleles to order and for purchase are the following:

Birthday Treats
Click here for the fillable form and to learn more information about the many options that are available to your and your child. This form must be completed and turned in two weeks before the date you would like the treats to be given to the class.
Please note: In order to keep our Gators healthy and safe, birthday/event treats purchased outside of Park Hill School District Food Service will NOT be accepted this school year. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
PLEASE REVIEW THIS CHECKLIST EACH DAY, AND IF YOUR CHILD EXHIBITS ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS, KEEP THEM HOME

PARK HILL STARS
The Park Hill Star program was started in 2015 to recognize employees who reflect the district’s values of continuous improvement, high expectations, integrity, visionary leadership, equity and student focus. Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District, and we would like to recognize them for all they do for our students. Anyone can nominate an employee for the monthly recognition.
