General News! Week of April 24-28th
Happy Monday!
Well, we made it through the first three days of EOG testing for language arts. Thank you for your help in having your children here on time and ready to go! Our attendance has been very good so far, so if we can keep that going throughout the week it will be a big help. This week we will have two days of math, and one day each of science and social studies.
Just a quick reminder that Progress Reports will be coming home this Wednesday. If you still have your child's report card cover at home, we would appreciate it coming back tomorrow, so we can fill them up again! Also... Last Call!!! If you still have picture packets at home, please return them, or the money for the portion you would like to keep, by this Friday. WE are also still missing some schedules for the high school. We appreciate your help in getting these items turned in.

This Week In Language Arts:
With our testing section out of the way, language arts will be moving into our final few areas of study. We are wrapping up The Boy in the Striped Pajamas with a compare and contrast of the novel and the screenplay. All of the classes except for one have been able to see the final ending of the movie. The last group will wrap that up tomorrow, and all classes will be working on their comparisons.
From there we will begin to tie in the language arts aspects of Project Lift-Off. Students will delve into Almost Astronauts: The True Story of the "Mercury 13" Women., by Tanya Lee Stone. This book provides many interesting details about the early years of NASA, nearly twenty years before the first women were allowed into NASA's astronaut program. Students will research these 13 women, and the roles that they played, as well as the many struggles they faced.
The students will use their research to plan and execute an interview with each of these "13 Women Who Dared to Dream"!
Math- Mrs. McKinney
Math - Monday and Tuesday we will study Science in preparation for the EOG and on Wednesday we will review Georgia Studies. Thursday all testing will be completed and we will begin to graph the data from our rocket launches. Friday all block will be spent making a published graph that we can display with our rockets.
Science- Mrs. Allen
This week in science, we will continue reviewing for the End of Grade test until we take it on Wednesday for Science. Once our test is out of the way, we will be back at our rockets to prepare them for our second launch next week! Please make sure your student finishes their Forces and Motion EOG Review to turn in before Wednesday! Students should also continue working in Mobymax in class and at home. Let’s show all that we have learned this year on this test! J
