Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
December 2nd-6th
What's Going On This Week:
- Ms. Harris' Social Studies: This week we will continue our unit on Industry and Immigration. We will look at the Industrial Revolution and how different inventions changed modern life. There will be a quiz the week of the 16th and 17th over Industry and Immigration. Students should be studying their notes nightly to help them prepare.
- Ms. Harris' GT Math/ELA: This week we are continuing our unit on long division. Students will learn how to divide with 2 digit divisors. They will also analyze word problems to learn what to do with remainders. There will be a long division test next week covering everything we've learned in this unit. In ELA, we are starting our first Jacob's Ladder story. These are very detailed, thought-provoking stories and the questions students must answer require them to use their higher-level thinking skills. Students will be graded on how thorough and well-thought out their responses are. Students were given spelling words this week and will have their test on the 13th. To help with studying, I have given spelling homework due dates instead of giving free-range until the 13th. One spelling activity is due each Wednesday and Friday until the test date. This is outlined on the spelling choice menu in the students' spelling notebooks. They should have their speed sort due tomorrow.
FMES is proud to have the Angel Tree again this year.
This month stop in to the main office and select an item from Mr. Finch, or send a note/email with their child and an ornament with a needed item will be sent home in your student’s backpack.
The recipients of our Angel Tree gifts are our own FMES families.
Gifts are due back to the main office no later than December 11th and should be returned in GIFT BAGS only, NO WRAPPING PAPER PLEASE, with the ornament attached.
Please contact Mrs. Hart, school counselor, with any questions regarding the Angel Tree. Thank you so much!
