What is fat made of?

Triglyceride Fats and oils are made from two kinds of molecules:glycerol (a type of alcohol with a hydroxyl group on each of its threecarbons) and three fatty acids joined by dehydration synthesis. Since there are three fatty acids attached, these are known astriglycerides.

Why do animals need fat?

Fat is involved in several body functions, including liver function and the creation of chemicals, called hormones, that send messages in the body. Fat also provides the most energy out of any nutrients.
