Message from the Principal
Dear Central Road Families,
I hope you enjoyed your spring break!
I want to begin by thanking all of our families. Your support has allowed us to implement distance learning. At Central Road, we know that families have a lot on their plates, during this unique time in our lives. Many of you are working from home and supporting your child’s education. We know it is not easy, and we thank you for your collaboration and support.
As we move forward with distance learning, we recognize that we will have to make adjustments as a district to provide a platform that allows students to directly access learning. At this time, we are asking families who have students in Grades PreK-5th to check their emails to receive communication from teachers, that include learning activities for your children. Students in these grade levels do not have email addresses. If you picked up a Chromebook, you were provided with login information for your child’s device. This information is not an active email account. We are exploring ways to provide your child with direct access to learning. I will share more information as it becomes available. During the week of March 30th, please continue to check your email for communication from your child’s teacher.
District 15 will continue to provide students with breakfast and lunch during school closures. These meals are available to all students. The pick-up times and meal options are available on our district website. The site closest to Central Road is CLA, 2800 Central Road. Food is distributed from 12:00-1:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Central Road will continue to host special education meetings for students with IEPs and 504 plans. We plan to host these meetings virtually, through Zoom with parents and guardians. Our staff is here to support you! Attached are directions to access Zoom for families that may have an upcoming meeting schedule.
A few months ago, Central Road was fortunate enough to schedule therapy dog visits with our students. The students adored the therapy dogs. Ms. Celmer has been kind enough to continue to provide our students with virtual experiences with her therapy dogs. Please enjoy the read aloud with Ms. Celmer and her dogs.
Here are a few resources for your family, to continue to support a love of literacy. Students do not need to create accounts and everything is free. There are books available in both English and Spanish. Enjoy!
Warmest Regards,
Patti Van Winkle
Principal
