A Word From Mrs. Loor
What a fun week between the field trip, parties and volleyball game! As the year is winding down, I know it can be difficult to keep up with all the events happening at school. Please make sure you are reading communications from your child's teacher and if you have any questions, please reach out to them.
Our cafeteria will be closed for dining purposes tomorrow due to the installation of our new AV system. We are so excited to have this project completed. A million thanks to the PTO! Students will still have access to get their school lunch. It looks like we'll have great weather on Monday so the children will be eating outside on the Warwick Field. We will have mats for them to use but you can also send in a towel for your child to sit on.
As a reminder, there is no school on Tuesday due to voting. First Grade will be going to Foster Fields on Friday and 4th Grade has their STEAM Showcase on Wednesday and Challenge 24 on Friday. Fifth Grade will be working with Mrs. Breznak to place their handprints on the wall of the fifth grade hallway. This is a great way for us to remember our students as they move on from our school.
Have a wonderful week!
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor

IMPORTANT YEAR END REMINDERS
Please remember to pick up all medications currently held in the Health Office prior to the end of the school year. All EpiPens and inhalers should be picked up as close to the last day of school as possible. Please note, schools are not permitted to give medication to students to carry home, and we are required by law to destroy any medication not claimed at the end of the school year. All remaining medication left in the health office will be discarded by 1pm on Wednesday, June 14th.
All EpiPen, asthma treatment plans, and other medication orders (including those for over the counter medications) must be renewed annually at the start of each school year. Please return your updated paperwork for the 2023-2024 school year to Franklin School PRIOR to the first day of school. All forms are available on the Summit Public Schools’ district website, www.summit.k12.nj.us , under the “Resources” tab.
ATTENTION FIFTH GRADE PARENTS
All students entering 6th grade must receive a booster dose of Diphtheria, Pertussis and Tetanus (Tdap) and one dose of the Meningococcal Conjugate vaccine (MenACWY), given no sooner than age 10. If you have not submitted proof of immunization please do so immediately, as failure to submit will result in school exclusion. Please submit immunization records directly to Ms. McDonald (LCJSMS nurse.)
If your child plans on participating in a sport at LCJ Summit Middle School, he/she will need a complete physical exam completed within 365 days of the first tryout/practice. Forms, additional information and start dates, can be found at https://www.summit.k12.nj.us/schools/lcj-summit-middle-school/athletics
*Please note, the sports participation physical exam form for LCJSMS is different from the physical exam form previously used at the elementary level*

Reminders
- As a reminder: to ensure that we include everyone and accurately provide class placement for all students, we ask that you notify Mrs. Napoles in writing, if you do not plan to return to Franklin in September. Please let us know by June 14th.
- As a public service announcement, please be mindful of where you are parking at dismissal. The Summit Police have been issuing summons to those parked illegally. You cannot park on either side of Blackburn Road between Blackburn Place and Warwick Road and behind the crosswalk on Blackburn Road and Blackburn Place. Thank you for your cooperation.
- We are outside every day for recess weather permitting and we utilize all of our fields as much as possible. Please remember as per board policy 7490, animals are not allowed on school property without prior notice and permission. It also includes arrival and dismissal. This is for the safety and security for all of our students. It would also be amazing if you could pass the word along for all pet owners who live in the area to please clean up after their animals.
- The playground is solely for school use from 8am-3pm. I understand that you may be arriving at school earlier for dismissal, but the playground equipment is not available to the public until after school is over.
- If your child will not be in school, please email or call Mrs. Napoles.
- Children should not be bringing toys, Pokemon cards, etc to school unless it is for a specific school-related activity such as a special share day.
- Any forgotten items that need to be dropped off must be labeled with the child's name and teacher's name and left on the table in the security vestibule past the front entrance.
