The Fairview Connection
OCTOBER 29, 2021
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL OPHUS
Dear Fairview Families,
We’ve had an exciting day here at Fairview! Our Halloween festivities are always so much fun for our students and we are grateful for all of the wonderful parent volunteers who created unique and engaging parties for our students to enjoy this afternoon. Special thanks to Becky Castillo for her work in coordinating all of our volunteers for today. We really appreciate your efforts! We are also very grateful for the great turnout at last week’s Boo Bash! The event was a huge success as a result of the many volunteers that came out to help and the creative planning done by Nicole Dufkis and Carrie Krupa. Our school community had not been together like this since before the pandemic began, and this event was even more special after such a long wait.
Our PTO continues to be up to good work as we are excited to once again offer Special Lunch at Fairview. Our first Special Lunch will take place on November 12th. Please sign up using this link if you are interested by November 5th. You should fill this form out separately for each child. Special thanks to Anna Gamberdino and Maria Michalakos for coordinating Special Lunch this school year!
I am happy to see that we’ve had such a large number of parents already signing up for Parent-Teacher conferences using our online sign up found at this link. If you haven’t done so already, please take a moment to sign up for a conference. As shared in the email I sent on October 26th, be sure to type “Zoom” next to your child’s name if you are requesting a remote conference. We will assume you are coming in person otherwise. If you forgot to do this and are hoping for an online conference, you can email your child’s teacher or me and we can update it for you. The link to sign up for conferences will close at the end of the day on November 5th. After that point, please reach out to your child’s teacher to schedule a conference.
Thank you for taking the time to read today’s newsletter. Have a wonderful Halloween weekend and we look forward to seeing our students again on Monday.
Sincerely,
Dan Ophus
Fairview Principal
STUDENT DROP-OFF ZONE
PTO DINE 'N' SHARE
BIRTHDAYS
RAPTOR VISITOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
All visitors, including parents, will be required to present valid state-issued identification that will be entered into our system before gaining access to the school beyond the main office. In addition, the Raptor system provides alerts about people who may jeopardize the safety of the school, including registered sex offenders who are not allowed entry into schools.
As we have done in the past, all parents and visitors will be asked to wear a visitor lanyard. In addition, a visitor badge will be printed and placed inside the plastic sleeve on a lanyard. The visitor badge will include the visitor’s name and photograph.
We believe this safety procedure will keep our schools safer and provide instant information about who is in our schools in the event of an evacuation. We ask for your cooperation as we implement this new system. While visitors will likely take a bit more time to check in with our schools’ front office teams, we know that this system will add another important layer of security.
Please click here for sign-in instructions.
STUDENT SAFETY
Please be advised that no parent/guardian is allowed to take their child off of the playground during school hours. Please come to the front of the school and announce yourself, the office will sign your child out electronically and send your child out the front doors to meet you.
We ask that you never approach your child when they are outside for lunch recess or gym class.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
