Fall Break Updates
Horace Maynard Middle School
Kickin' It with Kilgore:
HMMS FAM1LY,
I hope everyone has had a wonderful Fall Break so far and that you enjoy the last couple of days before we get back at it! Thank you to everyone that provided us feedback from the survey. We will use that information as we continue planning for the remainder of the school and also use that information for some guiding questions in our next parent, student, and staff leadership meetings. Your feedback is valued and we can't thank you enough for taking the time to complete that survey for us.
We look forward to getting our students back in the building Monday and look forward to another awesome 9 weeks as we close out the Fall semester! As always, if you need anything please do not hesitate to reach out to us!

We are getting into sick season and here are a few reminders of how to prevent the spread of infection. A true fever is 100.4 or higher. Children must be fever free for 24 hrs without medication to be at school. If your child has been actively vomiting they must also be free of episodes for 24 hrs to be at school. Remember to save absences for when your child is truly sick so that we don't run into attendance problems. We all "just don't feel good" sometimes but it is so easy to get behind if they are missing school. We want the best for every student at HMMS so please get them here if they are well.
- You may send a small hand sanitizer with your student
- Add some hard candy to their backpacks for tickles in the throat
- Send a water bottle that will close and can be refilled so that they stay hydrated
- Encourage students to NOT share food or drinks with their friends
- Make sure your child has a good breakfast and lunch-if they don't like the menu options please send something from home
- Make sure your child is getting enough sleep-that is when the body heals and resets
Let's soar right through this season and be the healthiest school in the county. Go Red Devils!
