Spring 2020 Semester Grades
- Are you aware of your choices for being assigned a grade for the spring semester?
- Do you know that you can choose for each class individually, such as a numerical grade, for some classes, and the pass/fail option for others?
- If you opt for pass/fail and are assigned "fail" for one or more classes, will you have the option to do additional work to achieve a passing grade?
- Have you earned enough credits thus far such that having to make up one or more classes will allow you to remain on track to graduate in four years?
- Will your decision(s) affect your ability to pursue the classes you selected for the 2020-21 school year?
- Will any of these grading options affect NCAA freshman athletic eligibility, and if so, how?
If you have questions, consult with your school counselor or an administrator at your high school. You may also want to check out these FAQ's from the NC State Board of Education.
Crosby Scholars Officer Nomination: OPEN NOW in the Crosby Scholars Student Portal
Presidents are the face of the Program and encourage other scholars to succeed.
If you want to:
- Be more involved with your fellow Crosby Scholars
- Represent your class at Crosby Scholars functions
- Promote the Crosby Scholars Program to underclassmen
- and much more
…this could be your best role! Check out the complete job description in the Crosby Scholars Student Portal.
If you would like to run for Crosby Scholars president at your school, the deadline to submit your self-nomination registration is May 22 (current juniors only).
Voting through the Crosby Scholars Student Portal will begin on June 1.
Presidents must be rising seniors and have cumulative unweighted GPAs of 2.5 or higher.
If there is a tie between candidates after the online voting concludes, a runoff will be held unless a runoff is likely to yield the same result. In that case, the school will have co-officers.
Senior Advisor Assignments
Every senior in Crosby Scholars receives a Senior Advisor to meet with one-to-one. You have the choice to decide if you would like to be assigned a Crosby Scholars staff advisor or if you would like to self-select an advisor. We have a great explanation in your Crosby Scholars student portal. If you would like to self-select, please complete the Senior Advisor form by May 30th. You do not have to complete the form if you would like to be assigned an advisor.
These assignments are confirmed beginning July 1. Your Senior Advisor’s name will be posted in your Crosby Scholars Student Portal as soon as the assignment is made, and you will receive an email introducing your senior advisor.
Virtual College Visits Are All the Rage!
Preparing for College Application Season
Both the Common App and the Coalition have confirmed essay topics for the 2020-21 application cycle. As we shared with you in an earlier communication, now is an excellent time to review the essay prompts and choose one that best suits you. Crosby Scholars will offer online and (we hope) in-person essay review, and you need to provide a completed essay for critique in either case.
