STILLSON SPIRIT
January 2019 Newsletter
Dear Stillson Families,
Thanks to everyone for coming to our Open House. I know that our students always look forward to “showing off” all their different projects that they did to decorate the hallways and classrooms and to have some special time to sit and sing with their families. Thank you for your donations for our Stillson Giving Tree too. We have the much needed funds now to help out when we can. I hope our Open House was an enjoyable time for all of you!! What a super turnout with lots of smiling, visiting, and singing…..lots of candy canes too.
As our staff and students approach a well-deserved break to rest and spend time with family and friends, I wish all families much joy and peace. As I am writing to you for the last time in 2018, I would also like to wish you all a healthy and happy New Year in 2019. I hope it brings each of you new opportunities and possibilities to grow, learn, teach, give, and help others!
On behalf of Stillson Elementary, I extend our sincerest best wishes for a great holiday season and a happy new year.
Happy Holidays!
Yours in Stillson Success,
Mrs. Carol Wilczek

girls on the run - coaches needed!
"Want to have a fun, rewarding volunteer experience while helping your girls unlock their limitless potential? Coach with Girls on the Run at Stillson Elementary School! Our amazing coaches from last season are taking a step back this year, so we are looking for three new coaches for the 2019 season by the end of December to keep the program going strong! We love having the Girls on the Run program at Stillson Elementary School, but without three new volunteers by the end of the month, there will not be a team for the 2019 season.
You don't need to be a runner or have any coaching experience to be a great Girls on the Run coach! We accept all men and women who want to make a difference, and we make it easy for you!
Girls on the Run provides all of the materials and training you need to have an amazing season. We even pay for the healthy snacks at each lesson. The season is 10 weeks from the last week in February through mid-May 2019, and practices are right after school from 2:45- 4:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Practices follow the school calendar- so no school, no practice!

Weather Reminders
Please be sure your child leaves in the morning dressed for the weather conditions. Dressing in layers is always a good idea. Boots, gloves, hats and snow pants should become part of their standard attire. Students will be going outside during recess except when the actual temperature or wind chill is –6 or colder. They will be allowed to play in the snow if dressed properly. It is also important to label your child’s clothing and boots. Recess is an important time for social interaction. Exercise is a critical component for healthy growth and academic success.
All students will be expected to go outside for recess.

Reminder
· First bell is 7:45 AM, 2nd bell is 7:48. If a student comes to school after 7:48 he/she will be counted as tardy.
· Parents are expected to call the office to report any absence by 8:30 AM, or a phone call from the automated phone system will be sent questioning the absence.
· If a child needs to ride a different bus after school, the parent must complete a bus deviation form to be given to the office or bus company.
· We appreciate your support in helping us eliminate interruptions in your child(ren)’s learning experience by not making last minute phone calls regarding changes in end of day transportation.
If your child will not be at school, please call the school office, 715-726-2412, regarding your child’s absence. We appreciate you letting the classroom teacher know your child will be out (via email or note), but also let the office know, as many times classroom teachers will not have time to check their emails prior to school starting.
