The Gatling Gun
The Invention that shot around the World
The Gatling Gun was the first rapid shooting weapon that was first used during the civil war in 1861. The weapon was invented by Richard Gatling in 1862. It was designed with a multiple barrels that spun and shot separately, but to shoot the gun you would have to have someone crank a handle, unlike the guns that we have today with only one barrel that shoots continuously when someone pulls the trigger. He made it because he thought that with this gun, the need for more troops would be reduced, so the number of deaths would go down.
