What a great start to the school year! The children entered the halls of Sussex Avenue with broad smiles on the first day of school. The halls and classrooms were alive with only the energy that is generated by children. It's great to have them back!

All hands were on deck for the first two days of schools. I'd like to recognize all of the amazing staff for their dedication to our students. Greeters met the children in the stairways and hallways to assist in finding their classrooms. Staff were stationed outside to ensure once students were off the bus they knew where to go. Homeroom teachers were at their doors welcoming them back and into their classroom community. ismissal went just as smoothly. It is not by accident that Sussex Avenue is home of the Stars. Our staff were shining brightly!!
Enriching our youngsters' schooling experience takes many hands and the HSA is always looking for volunteers. There are a variety of ways that you can help out including but not limited to chair a committee, donate supplies, translate documents, organize drives, attend events, along with many others. If you have a special talent, let us know! We are always looking for talented, compassionate, and hardworking individuals to get involved!
Please contact Kristin Deleppo and Kathleen Kalahar to discuss how you can help.
I'd like to thank the Sussex Avenue community for such a warm welcome. Parents, staff, and students have been amazing with the transition. Your children are truly precious. I've begun to get to know the children by name. This will take a while but I am off to a pretty good start! They are kind, respectful, and caring young men and woman. I do not take lightly the trust you put into all of us at Sussex Avenue to care for your most valuable possession, your child. We will continue to love, care, respect, and help them grow, alongside you. As Helen Keller said, "Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much." Thank you again and I look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night on September 25th.
