Partee General News
Partee Elementary Parent Newsletter - January 2024
Happy New Year! I hope your break included lots of rest and fun with your family. Most importantly, I hope that your family was able to stay healthy and safe. We were happy to welcome our students back to school last week. Many of them were having to adjust to being back on their normal routine. I'm sure our students were used to staying up late and sleeping in because that's exactly what I did on my break. It's good to get back on a schedule. 😉
At Partee we are looking forward to the second semester. We experienced great success the first half of the year and we are ready to finish the year strong. Please make sure to mark your calendars for the events we have each month. You can find this information in the newsletter and on the calendar that's on the Partee ES website.
Attendance- Please be reminded to send in attendance/doctors notes when your child is absent or tardy.
Students who are on time to school and actively engaged in instructional activities greatly increase their knowledge, skills, and learning in general. It is my belief that students who are consistently tardy or absent miss out on teacher directions for morning activities, school wide morning announcements, and overall, lose valuable instructional time. Instructional time is needed to acquire skills in reading, math, spelling, writing, social studies, or science.
Child Lures Lesson- Parents, our counselors, will deliver to the students the child lures lesson:Think First & Stay Safe™ in the months of January and February. Please review the child lure parent letter that was sent home before the December break.

HAPPY HEALTHY SCHOOL YEAR 2024
Many parents ask, “When is my child sick enough to stay home from school?” This is not always an easy question to answer! A child who is sick will not be able to perform well in school and is likely to spread the illness to other children and staff. We suggest making a plan for childcare ahead of time so you will not be caught without a comforting place for your child to stay if he/she is ill.
Our school policy states that you should not send your child to school if he/she has:
· Fever in the past 24 hours - student must be fever free for 24 hours in order to return to school.
· Vomiting in the past 24 hours - student must be vomit free for 24 hours in order to return to school.
· Diarrhea in the past 24 hours - student must be diarrhea free for 24 hours in order to return to school.
· Chills, sore throat
· Strep Throat (must have been taking an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school)
· Bad cold, with a very runny nose or bad cough, especially if it has kept the child awake at night
If your child becomes ill at school, you will be called to pick him/her home from school. It is essential that your child’s teacher have a phone number where you can be contacted during the day and an emergency number in the event you cannot be reached. Please be sure that arrangements can be made to transport your child home from school and that childcare is available in case of illness. If your daytime or emergency phone number changes during the year, please notify your child’s teacher immediately.
We want 2024 to be a Happy Healthy School Year for all!
- Food from outside the cafeteria is not permitted.
- Birthday's can only be celebrated during lunch. Feel free to bring store bought cupcakes, cookies, donuts, etc. No balloons, treat bags, stuffed animals, etc. please.
For the safety and security of all students, please try to keep afternoon transportation consistent. In the event that changes are needed, please do the following:
One-day change: Write a note and attach a copy of your driver's license. Requests can be delivered by the student or emailed to Partee.Transportation@gcpsk12.org. Please call the school by 2:30 to verify that the request was received.
Temporary Change (minimum of 5 days): The parent or guardian must come in and complete a "change of transportation" form in the front office.
