A Message from Principal Reed
Greetings Ramsey Families,
We appreciate your continued support in your child's education and would like to thank our families for a great turnout at our spring student-led conferences. Thank you for celebrating your student's academic, social and emotional success throughout the year!
Additionally, I would like to thank all of the parents, grandparents and guardians who have attended our Leader in Me Celebrations at Ramsey. It is wonderful to recognize all of the students and classrooms that are demonstrating leadership each day at our school. We look forward to our March 30th Leadership Celebration which will focus on Habit 5: Seek First To Understand, Then to Be Understood. We are so proud of our students!
Another way to support our school is through our P.T.O., and we hope you can attend our next meeting on April 6th at 6:30 pm.
We appreciate your continued involvement in your student’s education at Ramsey and are looking to connect with all of our families on a more regular basis. Many families have joined our Ramsey Elementary Facebook Page and @RamseyEagle Twitter Page and have supported our staff in celebrating all of the great things that happen at Ramsey and across district each day.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support to ensure that your student has the best possible learning experience at Ramsey.
Wishing your family a fun and safe spring break!
Warm Regards,
Dr. Amy Reed
Principal
Social media and school
There has been an increase with social media impacting student learning. Generally the school does not get involved in what students do outside of school, unless it causes disruptions in school. We have recently learned that many students have formed large chat groups in snapchat, text chains and TikTok, which has led to conflict and hurt feelings which are carrying over to the school day.
We are asking all families to be aware of what your children are doing on their devices. Please check their social media, and check in on them as well. We try to teach them that once it is posted, it is permanent.
We appreciate your support at home with this as well.
Leader In Me at Home
We are often asked how parents can support our school’s leadership initiative. Each time we are asked we give the same answer: “Use the 7 Habits language at home.” As the school year unfolds, the students are learning the language and meaning of the 7 Habits. By hearing the same language at home and at school, you send your child a message of what is important and that we are all on the same team—the team that wants to help your student succeed. When parents and schools support one another, the sky is the limit!
Below is a summary of each of the habits:
• Habit 1: Be Proactive (I’m Responsible for Me)
• Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind (Have a Plan)
• Habit 3: Put First Things First (Work First, Then Play)
• Habit 4: Think Win-Win (Everyone Can Win)
• Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood (Listen Before You Talk)
• Habit 6: Synergize (Together Is Better)
• Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw (Balance Feels Best)
In order to encourage the 7 Habits language at home, here are some questions you can ask your child:
• How were you proactive today?
• What is your end in mind with this project/work/task?
• How do you plan to put first things first in this situation?
• What would be a win-win for us?
• I want to hear what you think first and then I will share.
How do you know when you are being listened to?
• How can we work together on this?
• How would you like to sharpen your saw today?
HABIT HOMEWORK MENU
Option #1: Habit 1: Be Proactive
Try laying out your clothes each night before you go to bed. At the end of the week, reflect on this question: Did this help your week go more smoothly?
Option #2: Habit Review
Try listing each of the 7 habits. Discuss what it means to show each habit. Post the list in a visible spot.
