Designed for students entering grades eight and nine. Bungees, launches, and projectiles - OH, MY! Explore the world of functions as you conduct hands-on experiments to gather data and see how math is used to describe and make predictions about the world around you.

Students entering grades eight through twelve will choose at least one book from among four options of classic literature to read prior to the week. Each day of the week will be dedicated to activities and discussions of the book of the day. Friday will be a celebration of literature event where participants will share and enjoy a culminating activity encompassing the selected literature. Students and teachers will visit a "break-out" room that reflects literature themes discussed throughout the week. On the same day, students will visit a book store to browse and select high-interest reading materials.

Designed for students entering grades five through nine. To improve skills, students will participate in creative and improvisational games to refine their performance techniques. Learning will occur through movement activities, acting games, and creative processes. Students will work collaboratively to deliver a short performance as a culminating activity.

Designed for students entering grades four through six. Minecraft is an educational game full of mathematical concepts that come alive when presented spatially and manipulated with a few clicks. Minecraft themed, kid-appealing problem-solving will keep students engaged and energized in math through this well known and popular game.

No, this is not a cooking class, but this will introduce you to the world of IoT, or Internet of Things. As technology expands, you will find more computers in your "things" like your watch, your car, or even your refrigerator. These gadgets are all run by computers that are getting smaller and smaller! This session introduces students entering grades seven through twelve to one of the hottest mini-computers today, the Raspberry Pi.

Students entering grades seven through ten will learn about how forces and motion interact to create our favorite thrill rides. Students will participate in hands-on experiences, build their own model roller coasters, and take a trip to Kings Island to experiment and learn about physics on some wild rides. At least 15 students are required for ticketing and admission.

Students will work with college students and volunteers from Wright Patterson Air Force Base and other science-related careers to complete hands-on STEM activities from coding to machine-building and more with a lot of experimenting thrown in, too! Join us as our mentors lead us through the wild world of STEM!

Students entering grades four through six will learn about rocketry and space exploration. They will compete in Mars Rover STEM challenges, talk with experts in the field, learn about life in space and the history of space exploration, participate in a rocket launch, build a telescope, and visit an aerospace museum.

Designed for students entering grades three through five, participants will explore STEM projects using common materials. Projects will be chosen from the following: Building gliders, testing structures, making balloon cars, designing prosthetic hands, examining circuitry, 3D modeling, digital design, and more!

Designed for students entering grades seven through nine, participants will be exposed to high-interest books and media across a variety of genres. Mrs. Brady and Mrs. Galentine will help students identify what they might like to read and what is available - genres, authors, award-winners, book-to-film, audibles, etc.
