FHS Class of 2020 Graduates Joining Armed Forces - Thank you for your Service!
COVID 19-Semester 2 Grading for grades 9-11
Dear Parents or Guardians,
We have been involved in grading discussions at Fraser High School since last year and various issues/viewpoints have come to light. Even though we will continue our discussion around grading in a Competency Based model at FHS, we have to finalize our grades for the COVID-19 Extended Online Learning on June 15th. Based upon this unprecedented situation, we are going to make an additional change to the grading policies for only the second semester of 2020.
If you would like your student(s) to receive a letter grade for their work during this period of time, you do not need to take any action. The grades earned will factor into the students’ GPA as it traditionally would.
If you would like your student to receive credit (CR) instead of a letter grade, please contact your student’s teacher, via email, informing them that you would like the option of credit instead of a letter grade. Credit (CR) does not affect GPA in a positive or negative manner.
After discussing with your student(s), if you chose to not receive a letter grade but credit (CR) for their course(s) please email their teacher(s) by June 11th. If there is no communication, the default will be the letter grade earned for the second semester of 2020.
In order to receive a letter grade or credit, all competencies must be met in the students’ respective classes. If all competencies are not met, a student will receive an incomplete (I) that must be made up in one of the following options:
1. COVID Extended Learning: June 15th-July 1st.
Parents and Guardians: Please complete this form if your student would like to request an extension until July 1 to complete school work for the final semester of the 2019-20 school year. This opportunity is available as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fraser High School students who are unable to complete their work by July 1, will be required to enroll in summer school or take additional courses during the upcoming school year in order to earn required graduation credit. Students who participate in this will be earning Credit or No Credit. Letter grades will not be given. https://forms.gle/ffjknnzZF7HtEcVq8
2. COVID Credit Recovery (Mini): Fall of 2020 during SMART Hour or scheduled Credit Recovery Classes
3. Traditional Credit Recovery: Fall 2020 scheduled Credit Recovery Classes or after school Credit Recovery
Counselors will communicate with students that are required to make-up an Incomplete (I). We appreciate your support during these challenging times. We will continue to be reflective in our practices to do what is best for our students.
Respectfully,
Mr. Ryan D. Sines, Ed.S.

Graduation Events
Hello Fraser Families,
We have planned a two-part graduation event for Saturday, June 6, to honor our Class of 2020 students. We would like to extend an invitation to all of you to celebrate with us! While only the seniors and their families will be able to participate in the drive-thru portion in person, everyone will be able to livestream this event. Our 318 graduates worked hard to earn their Fraser diploma, and we hope all of our Fraser Family will tune in to this unprecedented event.
Virtual Portion
The first part will premiere at 3 p.m. on our district’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. The video will also be published on our District website at a later time.
This portion will include the traditional speeches from Principal Ryan Sines, Superintendent Carrie Wozniak, Board of Education President Laura Edghill, and class valedictorian, salutatorians and class president. We will also call all of the seniors’ names in alphabetical order.
Drive-Thru Graduation
The Drive-Thru portion will begin promptly at 7 p.m. at the FHS Stadium.
This event is limited to one car for each of our graduates and their families. In order to comply with social distancing guidelines and to keep everyone safe, spectators will not be allowed to watch this event in person.
We will be broadcasting this event live on Facebook and a GoToWebinar. If you do not have a Facebook account, you can register in advance for the Webinar by clicking here.
Graduates and their families will be able to dial in to the webinar from their cars at the event. We will share the call-in information the morning of graduation.
Our leadership team, Board of Education, Student Council and parents have worked hard to make these events memorable for all of our seniors and their families. I look forward to the opportunity for us to come together to celebrate the Class of 2020.
Respectfully,
Mr. Ryan D. Sines, Ed.S.

All of you have demonstrated tremendous class while dealing with the loss of the spring events I am sure many of you have looked forward to. We know how hard you have worked to complete your academic credits and earn a Fraser Diploma.
Second, I am excited to share more details with you for our Graduation event on Saturday, June 6. While only our seniors and their families will be able to participate in the drive-thru portion in person, everyone will be able to livestream this event.

Students are able to decorate their cars
Students will receive their Diploma cover and Diploma that day

We will have several photographers taking pictures of the graduates, as well as capturing the event on video to share with all of our families
Drive-Thru Instructions
We have put together a video explaining the drive-thru procedures. We have also created a map for your reference.
At 7 p.m., staff will begin dismissing rows of cars to drive around the band loop toward the stadium. In the loop, seniors will exit their car for a professional photo and receive their name card. They will then get back in their car and proceed toward the stadium.
Once on the track, seniors will get out of their car at the start of the 100-yard dash. The senior will begin walking, keeping the same pace as their car.
At the 40 yard line, seniors will hand their name card to the announcer to read over the sound system. The senior will then receive their diploma cover from the Board of Education at the 50 yard line.
Graduates will continue walking to the opposite 20 yard line, where they will receive their actual diploma, event program and senior gift. They will then get back into their car, exit the stadium and drive to the FHS Klein Road parking lot.
In the Klein parking lot, cars will be lined up in groups of 26. Graduates will step outside of their cars for a tassel turning ceremony. Once this is complete, cars will be dismissed.
In order to comply with social distancing guidelines and to keep everyone safe, spectators will not be allowed to watch this event in person.

Yearbook News
Yearbooks are scheduled to arrive June 29th (still tentative, could be earlier). Once books arrive we will have a distribution event. If the state allows students to gather we will schedule small groups for pick up and to sign each other's books. If we are not allowed to gather we will do delivery curbside. Stay tuned to email for all the details.
There are only 20 books left available to purchase. You can do that online here: https://bit.ly/3dI1Bpr
Since a chance to sign books will be limited by our current situation, Jostens has created a FREE digital signing.
This is free service for everyone. Even if you did not purchase a book you can take advantage of this opportunity.
The digital signing system is easy to use. Here is how:
1-Go to the site: yearbooksigning.jostens.com
2-Set up an account with name, school, end date, email and password
3-Choose a color scheme for the title page
4-Jostens sends a personal link to send to your friends who you want to invite to sign
5-Signers find some space, pick fonts, colors and stickers, write their message and then post
6-Student can then print out the pages to keep with their actual book. You can also delete any post if desired.
This way you can collect messages and 'signatures' from your friends to add to your book once it arrives.
Email with any questions: yearbook@fraserk12.org
Thanks,
