"Platte Valley Spring"
Paul A. Johnsgard uses fiction in many ways to come up with stories and situations for the cranes. Kristina is a fictional character, just like her father and their home. The author uses facts to describe the cranes behavior. Such as grooming, the way they sleep, and dancing. The author also realistically describes the crane's diet. Kristina feeds the crane grasshoppers and grain. Also, when the crane joins its family, it describes the realistic bond they have together. When we visited the Rowe Sanctuary it gave us a visual of the crane's behavior and "human like" behavior described in the book.
