HB4545 Mandatory Interventions
Hello, Grey Wolves!
In their Activity period Friday our students were shown a PowerPoint (see attachments below) about mandatory Algebra and/or English interventions per House Bill 4545, which start this week. To comply with the requirements of House Bill 4545, many of our students have been assigned to at least one 9-week mandatory intervention session this semester, during Power Hour. They were identified for this intervention because they either have not passed, or did not take, the Algebra I and/or one of the English STAAR tests required for graduation.
Students who need to attend interventions were sent an email with their specific intervention assignments (dates and times), which will take place during Power Hour. They have 1-2 sessions assigned to them for Algebra and/or English. If your student did not receive an email from Christine Wortham with their intervention assignment, they do not have to attend any intervention sessions.
These intervention sessions are specifically designed to help students fill in any “missing pieces” of content knowledge they may have. The learning is tailored to their specific needs and will help them succeed not only on the STAAR, but in class, and in their future courses. They will be meeting in a classroom with a teacher who will facilitate their learning in a program tailored to assess their strengths and weaknesses in Algebra and/or English, and focus only on the areas where they are weakest. It can only help them become stronger in that content, so please encourage them to take full advantage of this opportunity!

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Christine Wortham by calling 254.336.2417, or emailing christine.wortham@killeenisd.org.
Thank you!

TESTING INFORMATION
ASVAB Scores
SAT for Juniors
We will be administering the SAT for juniors during the school day on March 2nd!
We are testing all juniors. If Juniors have already taken the SAT and are happy with their score, they may choose not to take the school-day SAT on March 2nd.
Students who took Algebra I in middle school and passed the Algebra I EOC in middle school are considered “accelerated testers”. These students are required to take the SAT.
Requests for accommodations are due by January 10th. The campus contact for these requests is Janelle Muhammad, who is our testing coordinator.
For more information on accommodations available, please visit https://accommodations.collegeboard.org/request-accommodations.
