Mesa Ridge Demonstrates Science to Webster Second Grade
- Station 1 - Static Electricity: Students taught the second graders about proton, neutrons and electrons and how electrons created static electricity. They had multiple demonstrations that allowed the kids to investigate the topic hands on.
- Station 2 - Magnetism: Students also discussed proton, neutrons and electrons and showed the second graders the attractive forces caused by certain types of protons and electrons. They allowed the students to play with some strong magnets and attract paper clips through slime.
- Station 3 - Erosion: Students used large Jenga wood pieces to demonstrate water, wind and rain erosion. They then helped the kids simulate the process with small Jenga games where the students rolled a dice and the numbers rolled chose which type of erosion took place.
- Station 4 - Density: Students taught the elementary kids about how certain liquids sit on top of other liquids and introduced the topic of more dense and less dense to them.
- Station 5 - Dry Ice Bubbles: Students got a change to play and pop dry ice bubbles which is a fan favorite from years past.
