Onekawa School Newsletter

Week 2, Term 3, Friday 6 August

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia ora whanau

We have received wonderful feedback about the new format of our newsletter.

I personally love the added functionality, with being able to include new items such as links and videos. This gives us the opportunity to 'bring to life' the exciting things happening at school.

In today's newsletter, I've included below a short 'how to' video on the use of the School App. Please click on the mobile phone image below.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Nga mihi nui,

Steve

Spooner Shield - Friday 13 August

Children selected for our Spooner Shield teams will have received a notice and permission slip this afternoon. Please sign and return it to school asap.

All information, including the draws, and organisation for each sport can be accessed via the newsletter below, and on the school app under the 'sports' tab.

Children competing in sports who do not already have a sports uniform will be issued them next week. Please return them washed on the first Monday back.

There will be plenty of action shots in next week's newsletter from Onekawa School participating. Best of luck to our teams who are competing for the first time in this exciting event.

Exciting Literacy development at Onekawa School

One of our main learning goals for 2021 is the development of structured literacy school wide.

You may already know about some of the exciting things happening in classrooms.

Over the coming year, we will be featuring the learning taking place in literacy across the school.

In todays video, we see children in Tupu carrying out their daily class structured literacy session. Check it out below!

Excellent News About the swimming pool!

The issues with our swimming pool are now fixed! There were a number of cracks in the pool that was leading to significant leaks (the main reason for having to close the pool for so long).

We are now waiting till the weather gets warmer to repaint the pool so that it's ready for the next swimming season! We are hoping the pool will be available in term four this year, and if not definitely at the start of 2022.

Reporting Absences and Lateness to School

Please, please, please, pretty please: let the office know if your child is going to be absent from school and give us the reason why before 9am.

If we don't hear from you we need to contact you ourselves to ensure your child is safe. This is a very time consuming exercise. Thanks!
