Homecoming Spirit!!

Today we welcomed some of the Hudsonville Football Players and Cheerleaders to get us excited about the Homecoming game! We had a great time cheering as they walked through the hallways! Check out some pics of the fun we had! GO EAGLES!!!


Next week, we will continue with spirit week as we lead up to our Walkathon!

Head Lice Information

We continue to have a few cases of head lice in the school. Please read the attached information on how best to avoid and treat head lice.

4th Grade Market Day

Market Day is the chance for students to apply all that they’ve learned through our economics unit into a real world simulation. Look at all our businesses and entrepreneurs!

Mrs. Bandstra at Art Prize

Our very own art teacher, Mrs. Bandstra is at Art Prize! Her entry entitled, "Converging Realities" is located on the upper level of DeVos Place. Everyday, she paints a new picture at Art Prize and swaps one out! Be sure to stop by and see her!

Count on Me-Alward Students and Staff Making a Difference

This year, our students and staff are working on taking initiative to make a difference in the lives of others. If you hear about how an Alward student, teacher, or staff member made a difference in someone else's life, please fill out the Google Form below. We will be posting these "Count on Me" sightings on our new bulletin boards right outside the main office. Students, parents and staff members can recognize others for things as simple as someone always saying hello to them or holding the door for them. We can also recognize others for going as far as helping out in the community. We want to know how our students and staff are making a difference at Alward and out in the community and celebrate these acts of kindness this year! Thank you for taking the time to support this "Count on Me" initiative this school year!

Alward Fall Beautification Project

This fall, our first and fourth grade classes are going to team up to plant tulip and daffodil bulbs around the school to add some color to the Alward property in the spring. We are looking for donations of tulip and daffodil bulbs. If you can donate any of these items, please bring them into the school office over the next couple of weeks. Thank you so much for your generosity as we work to beautify Alward!

Baldwin Street Middle School Musical Auditions

Saturday, Sep. 29th, 10am

3rd, 4th, and 5th students from Alward, Bauer, Georgetown, and Park Elementary Schools have the opportunity to to audition for a role as a chorus member in the Baldwin Street Middle School production of Disney's Little Mermaid Jr.. Auditions are scheduled for September 29, 2018 in the Baldwin Street Middle School Choir Room.
Students interested in auditioning for a place in the chorus should prepare a short song to sing and be ready to learn some simple choreography at the audition. Students are asked to wear clothing that allows them to move freely and tennis shoes.
Visit https://bit.ly/2DeJoBo to sign your child up for an audition slot for Disney's Little Mermaid Jr.. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time. Parents will be asked to wait outside in the cafeteria during the auditions.

Turkey Trot

We are now offering online registration for the Turkey Trot through the community education website! This method of registration streamlines the process for you. You will receive immediate confirmation that your payment was received and your child is ready for the race! It also helps us out immensely by cutting down on having to collect checks and cash.

Turkey Trot details:
When: Tuesday, October 23
Where: Baldwin Street Middle School - Eagle Stadium
Time: Races begin at 5:00 PM, Gates open at 4:30 PM
Entry fee: $6.00 (includes a Turkey Trot shirt)
Deadline for entry: October 3, 2018

If online registration is not for you, no worries, you may still send the registration form with payment to your child's school.

If you have ever signed your child up for a community ed. activity, you already have an account. If not, one can easily be created.

Family Literacy Night-Camping Out

We need to get a preliminary count of how many fathers and sons would like to attend this event to ensure that we get enough tickets. Tickets will cost $13/person. This is only a preliminary count.
