A Note from Your ITF
Week of August 17th
Welcome Back Students
MS Teams
Over the weekend, we've learned that for some reason, not all chromebooks likely received this app, and it's not so easy to fix from home if they did not receive it. We are still trying to figure out a fix for this as we know the app will be a great asset for remote learning.
All of that being said, here is a link to a video the ITF at Hickory Ridge Elementary created to demonstrate how students can login to the Teams app. If you created your Teams link via Canvas, your students will still need to follow these steps to login to the app. Once logged in (fingers and toes crossed), they can then click your link from your Canvas course and then the app will automatically launch for them. The hand tool on the chromebook is not in their toolbar within the app. Students need to click three dots where you would expect the hand to be, then they should see the option to raise their hand in addition to other features. I've tried to make my own video this morning, but continue to experience some technical difficulties myself.
As you work with your students this week and they tell you they can't raise their hand, try to determine if they are signed in to the Teams app, or if they have the Teams app on their chromebook.
As more updates and information is available, I will share.
Flipgrid
- Send the permission slip electronically to your parents - CLICK HERE for permission form.
- Inform them they need to reply to your email they give permission for their child to use Flipgrid
- Only use with students who have permission. And easy way to do this is to set your topics up in moderated mode so all videos have to be approved by you before they're posted. If a student who does not have permission still posts, you can keep their video hidden.
